London: beer

To all of you who live in London - you have to try
this.....

Here in Lithuania they make absolutely amazing beer. It's as
good as, if not better than, the best Czech beer. The best
brand of all is called Svyturys, and it has won several
international awards. It's made in Klaipeda, Lithuania's
main port on the Baltic Sea.

Anyway, you may or may not realise that there are loads of
Lithuanians living and working in London and, happily,
they've brought their beer with them! I recently spoke with
a guy who has a friend in London and I asked him to find out
where Svyturys is available. He emailed his friend and then
replied to me with this:

"I asked my friend to say places where you can find Svyturys
beer. He knew two places, here is the instructions :)) :
1. Go out from Ealing broadway tube station, on the other
side of the road you see shop "Delicatessen from Poland and
Lithuania"
2. Leytone tube station, go to the left until you see a shop
with a
green outside roof, with vegetables outside, the shop is
owned by indiands or etc the price was 5 pounds for 4
bottles."

So, Londoners, go forth and find Svyturys. And then post on
here and let us know what you think.............!

I shall give it a whirl. I work in East London but on
Saturday I'll be able to pass by Ealing with my mate so
we'll pop in and have some of that beer.

Please do. And then report back here. It's amazing stuff - I
brought some back with me to the UK once and my friends
couldn't believe it. It's just....... fantastic. It's
actually worth coming here just to drink it, but now that
it's available in the UK.........

Interesting topic. I have been wanting to try beer over
there for a while. Here in the states my options on
international beer is limited.

I have grown to love german beer and there are some local
microbrews here in milwaukee with over the top beer.

through my eyes, there is something rather contradictory in
introducing a cultural factor in drinking beer. its' there,
you drink it, you fall over.

An American friend of mine was arrested for pissing outdoors
here in Vilnius in December.

Mind you, he did piss on the Lithuanian flag post outside
the presidential palace. It was on telly and everything!
