A Very Long Engagement

i did use the search function, but couldnt find anything on
this movie....

has anyone seen it? its really good......made me kinda sad
thinkin about war, and how people get called up without an
option, but in so many little tiny details, made me really
happy.
i also reckon its by the same director as Amelie, in fact
i'm certain, as it has some of the same people in it, and
has a very unique way of putting scenes together.

oh and its french,

anywayz.......

Its good, but I didn't think it was as good as Amelie. It
was a bit anti-climatic at the end, also I didn't think if
flowed particuarly well. Sometimes lots of great ideas can
be too many ideas, I gave it 8.4/10 in the 'rate the films
you see' thread. Its a good film and definately worth
watching though.

I saw it. I thought it was ok, but i found it kinda
confusing and boring for the first half and the ending was a
bit anti-climactic. But it was beautiful and clever and i
plan on watching it again.

it definitely had an Amelie feel to it, but i thought amelie
was much better. Like, I bought Amelie first chance i got,
but i wouldn't buy A Very Long Engagement, without watching
at least 1 more time first.

but i liked it ya!

Audrey Tautou having a butt massage is the most amazing
thing I've seen on film, EVAR

I liked it but was hoping that at the end, she'd find her
fella in a dirty french bar drinking Stella Artois with a
prostitute on his lap and turning to her as she walked in,
saying "que?!"

The war scenes were fantastic and brutal. Loved the postman!
Nearly dioes at the butt-massaage scene and thought jody
foster was great but a bit unnecessary really.

They have, guy. I've got it.

A review in the guardian a couple of weeks back absolutely
slated "A Very Long Engagement", but i'm yet to see a jeunet
film i didn't like.

Note i haven't seen Alien: Resurrection.

It's okay.

And yes, Delicatessen and La cité des enfants
perdus
are aweesoemsme. I guess I miss Marc Caro.

Caro did do some designs for "Alien: resurrection" but
pulled out because of all the Hollywood-hassle, I think.

it was one of the first dvd's I bought when I got a
dvd-player.

so that must be about 2 years ago. I think it's an English
edition, even. it's always been bargain price overhere, for
some reason.

I loved the commentary track on that one.

"They have, guy. I've got it."

Are you in the U.K. then? As far as I know its not availible
in the U.S. on DVD.

I get this when I look it up on amazon:

Have you got a multi-region dvd player? If so,
play.com is your place of joy. I'm not sure how much
shipping would cost to the US though.
