This is something I programmed last night, upon my
girlfriend's computer. It is called Interior I,
because its true title is too pretentious. It can be
viewed somewhat as a companion piece to The Infant
Clockwork Icebergs of Antarctica
, and I may extend it.
It is 1m01s.

INTERIOR I

Please Enjoy Responding!

I'm beginning to regret typing spam backwards - people must
believe this to be a cartography-based thread, and are
staying away!

i actually did think it was about maps for some reason, and
i was a bit surprised to find no map at all. i'm going to
listen to your song now.

:)

the string sounds have a really cinematic quality - i like
them a lot. i also really dig the arpeggios that are going
on... it's musically well-done, i think. i might have
turned the piano down a tiny bit in the mix.

it took me three listens to grab me, but now i do like it.
especially the beginning. i guess the only part that throws
me off is the bit with the piano, but i suppose that's just
personal taste. nice work!

I was very close to taking out the piano when I first
introduced it - It was very hard not to make it change too
abruptly - however, I thought by exchanging the previous,
subtle, piano part into the marimba worked to keep the
flow... the piano intrusion symbolises mental turbulence,
and seems to be getting more and more disturbed, before
being beaten down, and normal service resumed with the
resumption of the marimbas again. If I do extend it, I may
well make the piano part longer and gel more with the rest
of the piece. I'm not sure.

RE: adding a bass... It is already very finely balanced with
many melodies and rhythms. Adding a bass would endanger it -
making it either more clunky or too cluttered.

Thank you tolz and r !

haha, i was kidding about the bass, sorry. as for that piano
part . i thought it gives the tune kinda more serious feel
to it - fits in real nice imo, although it'd be better if
that part was a bit longer tho. still, when piano part comes
in the feel to the music changes from happy happy joy joy to
something more um, musical :)

Thanks, Fabes, I'm glad you liked another of my pieces after
about a year or so. Did you listen to the companion-piece,
...Clockwork Icebergs... ?

Chris, the other ones are on the zebox page also.

It's a gothic mansion on a Caribbean island. Maybe some of
the distant relatives of the Addamses live there.

Let's call them, oh I don't know, The Savage Family.

Fortunately THEIR movie is not directed by Barry Sonnenfeld.
:D

I swear i typed a responce in this thread about this track.

hmm

Paul i really liked this track. It totally fit the day and
the mood i was in at the time. I enjoy your work. What kind
of musical experience do you have. I remember you saying
that you were a piano master or something.

Thanks Y'All.

Alberto, They are Celestes and Marimbas, using the fab VSTi
Edirol Orchestral... if you adjust velocities and have
background knowledge of 'classical' instruments, they can
sound very authentic! :D

I donwloaded interior 1 and the other piece as well, i
honestly think that your composition work gets beter
everytime i hear it. I really enjoy the feeling of the
pieces and they work together as a whole, i would however
like to see interior 1 become a little longer. A little
thing that i noted is that the slightly obscure time
signature doesn't sound forced at all, it sounds very
natural.

Very good work Paul, i lookk forward to hearing some more
when you have the time to do some.

: )
