Q for hardware users

How difficult is it to get two or more pieces of midi
hardware to sync properly? Can it ever be as tight as
playing several rhythms / patterns simultaneously in the
same piece of equipment?

I've been working with my Micron for the last couple of
weeks and I can't believe how tight it is. It blows away the
software sequencers I've used.

I have two electribes that sync flawlessly. Midi seems to
work properly on hardware. I've had nothing but problems
using midi features in DAW software.

this is why they need to create a different sort of
language/communication thingy for SOFTWARE... ie M S D I

leave MIDI for mother fucking INSTRUMENTS

Midi is fine for everything. the only thing it can be beaten
on is latency, since it takes a finite amount of time to
send each note on, etc message. The timing must be precise,
but it is 1908s data speeds which can now be beaten by PCs.

So basically if you wanna use midi drum pads, you may notice
a very very minor latency when hiting a drum which triggers
a sound module over midi, but midi is still really good for
everything.
Even those 'quantised' controls i.e. 128 steps can be
controlled using high resolution using midi controller data
as a chunk of 2, to give 16bit resolution,if the hardware
supports it.

What if you want one simple interface to interface both in.
What about that?

Interesting. But that's two similar if not identical units
from the same manufacturer.

Two things I noticed - one, when I set my computer as master
I can hear and see the time drifting on the Micron (it has a
display of the BPM). Two, when I turn off my computer I play
more music.
