"He sold his tracks to advertisements, bragged about
shagging his French girlfriend, remixed for cash, and had
modern music giants like Philip Glass ringing up his
apartment/bank vault to arrange collaborations"

Richard wrote Phillip Glass a letter asking him to
orchestrate Icct Hedral, not the other way around. Get the
facts right.

for half of the article

The part about the music is kinda to the point this time.
But Pitchfork is always looking for something they consider
"new", so you can't really win over time.

The Analord 1 and 2 tracks sound more and more like strange
creatures every time I listen to them.

I always read pitchfork reviews of stuff I like, I'm not
sure why though. They have something of a Nathan
Barley-esque 'self appointed new media elite' status

I think it is because I invariably meet someone equally
pretentious who shares their painful view on music

I find it amusing that Pitchfork expects musicians to
reinvent themselves with each release when they still pump
out the same standard sjnarky biolerplate text year after
year.

Does Pitchfork still have a ghoulish hard-on for John
Coltrane?

It's odd they never slag him off for having played saxophone
for so many years instead of inventing a new instrument and
playing it with a new orifice on each release.

James still did Aphex Twin better than anyone, but after
his prolific 90s, that was no longer enough.

interesting. who else likes to Aphex Twin? hands up please

The actual music review wasn't that bad this time, but I
think everyone has heard the Aphex Twin backstory a
kagillion times before.
