A possible reason for this is that the Internet Explorer
settings are incorrect.

Go to Tools > Internet Options > Advanced Tab

Scroll down to the Multimedia section and put a tick next to
Show Pictures

Apply and then Ok

Close Internet Explorer then give it another go

If not, try clicking on restore defaults on the advanced tab
too

If you right click on the image and click on show picture
does that work?

To check if you've got a proxy specified click onto tool > I
options > Connections > LAN settings

could be something to do with it

Best off speaking to your IT dept in work, they may be able
to give you a different proxy to use

the proxy server is like a computer between the big bad
internet and you

interwebs <-> proxy <-> you

if theres something wrong with the proxy server, there is
nothing you can do about it really
