there is some crazy cuts going on when it cuts out for a few

speakers, tho.

boomkat.

i noticed it in my car.

they may be distortions, i still haven't received ANY of my
copies yet so im not sure.

it's hard to hear on computer speakers, easy in the car

Conclusion: Your car has shite speakers than your computer.

Points: 24805 Status: Lurker | Show recordbag

I woud also write that conclusion in english but no.

have you considered that when a vinyl record is played, if a
period of silence appears you can just about hear the
grooves either side of the one that is being played?

offline ecnadniarb on 2005-01-22 17:38 [#01472693]
Points: 24805 Status: Lurker | Show recordbag

Hmm, no, but I will consider that now...very considerately
indeed.

it's the backwards masking -- "worship the devil... number
9... paul is dead... buy more copies of analord..."

I don't notice it in the boomkat sample, and I dont see
anything weird when I zoom in on it.

Also the boomkat sample is being played at 45 but it should
be 33. Check the xlt or other thing sample to hear what it's
supposed to sound like.

offline bogala from NYC (United States) on 2005-01-22 17:40 [#01472701]

no, it souns like another track playing in the background.
Muffled. That it?

offline elusive from detroit (United States) on 2005-01-22 17:43 [#01472704]
Points: 18368 Status: Lurker | Show recordbag

yeah that's it, bogala, like another track being played real
quiet in the background, but it has some drill/drum bits.

it might be the other side, lke earthleakage, thansk for the
info i never thought of that

just another reason why CD is better than vinyl.

He's right, fools. You can hear it even on the boomkat
sample.

offline pomme de terre from obscure body in the SK System on 2005-01-22 17:55 [#01472715]
Points: 11941 Status: Moderator | Show recordbag

Yeah, there in something there. Here is is several times
louder: LAZY_TITLE

offline pomme de terre from obscure body in the SK System on 2005-01-22 17:59 [#01472720]
Points: 11941 Status: Moderator | Show recordbag

It's a part of laricheard on the A Side. The end of bwwon
dub you can hear a 4/4 kick drum very lightly, it matches
the BPM of laricheard exactly.

Dobbins right, it's the flipside bleeding through. Case
closed.

offline ecnadniarb on 2005-01-22 18:03 [#01472724]

Pete didn't say anything about the flip side..he said the
grooves either side of the groove currently playing.

Ah I see,,

That is not what's happening here I don't think.

Maybe it was mastered from a cassette that had another song
taped over..

(I thought it was really weird if somehow you could hear the
flip side of a record)

or when ripping samples from vinyl they might be doing more
than one at a time on decks which are next to each other
only through different channels

smart!

offline ecnadniarb on 2005-01-22 18:18 [#01472749]
Points: 24805 Status: Lurker | Show recordbag

If they had another recording playing REALLY loud while they
where recording off a vinyl is there a chance that the
external audio could be picked up through the deck?

offline r40f from qrters tea party on 2005-01-22 18:18 [#01472753]
Points: 14210 Status: Regular

i only listened to pomme's clip once, but it sounded like it
was playing forward to me. it didn't sound backwards.

another idea is that if the person playing the record had
some music playing in the background, it could have easily
been picked up on the needle. wouldn't even have to be that
loud.

offline r40f from qrters tea party on 2005-01-22 18:19 [#01472755]

yes - easily.

offline Dannn_ from United Kingdom on 2005-01-22 18:22 [#01472765]
Points: 7877 Status: Lurker

If that was the case this would be solved by anyone who has
the actual record, or even a different sample to the boomkat
one. Since elusive was playing it in his car I assume he has
a full and hence different version...?

Funny, cause I thought it was aphex being ground breaking
again.

it still could be just something really low in the mix on
purpose, but i really disagree that that would be
"groundbreaking". lots of musicians (myself included) have
done that for years and years. it's nothing new.

offline Dannn_ from United Kingdom on 2005-01-22 18:31 [#01472782]

I need to know who is responsible before I can decide if it
is amazing music or just some fucking cunt with bad
recording techniques.

OK, the sound in on the mp3s on slsk too.

That means on eof three things:

1 - The boomkat folks leaked the files themselves

2 - The boomkat gus downloaded the leaked mp3s to use as
their soundclips

3 - It's part of the actual track

it to me anyway.
