Ok.. I just had an idea... I need about four-five other music makers for it to work... basically, we agree on a BPM, a scale (like.. d minor or whatever), and on who does what... one to the drums, one to the bass, one to the main melody, one to the.. accompagniement (sp?), and maybe one to peculiar sounds and additions or a second melody-line... we all make our separate parts based on the BPM and the scale without hearing any of the other parts, and then, in the end, we put them together... of course, it could go both ways... it could be utter crap, and it could be good... however, I have no doubt that hearing the result could be interesting! anyone up for it? |

there's probably something! you never know... brokephones: to follow the keys, just use the notes in any succession you choose.. you can also harmonize (which means that any notes you play at the same time as any of the other notes which sounds fine probably works). We're probably going to end up with some "sour" passages anyway, so... minors basically sound "sad," while majors sound "happy." There are also other types of scales, like "phrygian" and "mixolydian," but I don't know the intervals for those... |

oh and ive never had any kind of music training, I know what 150bpm / 4/4 is, but what is a measure exactly? the software i use doesn't neccessarily measure "measures" - how long will this thing be? <- that will help me figure it out |

yep.. whichever app you normally use is fine.. and I'll probably mix it, but if anyone has a special skill in mixing, they're welcome to it as I'm not too good at it... actually, if the person who did the mixing didn't do anything else, that would probably be best! then he could mix and put all the stuff into system and cut and stuff without any "hmm.. MY part should be up front!" heheh... pomme: sorry.. the drums were taken, but maybe you want bass or main melody? |

I think we'll define a measure as bass-drum to bass drum when it goes bd+hh hh sn+hh hh bd+hh, and that is probably the same as a bar, but the english terms are a bit unclear to me... (hh = hihat, sn = snare, bd = bassdrum) |
