I'm about to listen to Magic Window right now, to see what
you're raving about.

The album gets worse and worse? That's not a good sign...

the album only gets BETTER ever time i listen to it. by the
way, that 192kbps magic window track is blank. i get no
sound at all. ???

yeah, my magic window is just like 1:27 of silence?

Is it like their song Olson?

Olson is also very short, just over 1 minute long, but is
absolutely gorgeous.

releases.

Im not dissapointed at all.

to get back to this magic window again..i bought this cd
today...i love it, but does someone really know what this
last track mean? there is really no noise at all.

offline aron from saskatoon (Canada) on 2002-02-18 21:26 [#00093017]

i think they just put it there so that the total running
time of the cd is 66:06.

666

seems to be right...but what should be so special with this
666? why magic WINDOW? i still don't get it

if someone has a new idea...then please lemme know. i really
want to know if there's something hidden...it doesn't make
so much sense to me to put a track without sounds on an
album, just to make sure that the album is 66:06...just if
this number is very important in some ways

hey Arch,
isnt that song saying - "the past inside the present"???

just curious....That's what my earz hear, but perhaps I am
wrong.

Anyways, Geogaddi will EASILY be the best album of
2002......
Shit BOC is EASILY the best group of 2002...and 2001...and
2000......etc.

magic window is not just silence... i played it at maximal
volume, and it has some sounds on it... it's a bit weird, it
plays some very quiet sounds, then stops, then my cd player
makes noise (like it has difficulty reading the cd), then
the sounds, then... etc.

or maybe my cd player is just fucked up.

offline roygbivcore from Joyrex.com, of course! on 2002-04-26 16:25 [#00195464]

i think your cd player is fucked up... if you convert it to
a wav file, there's no data at all. instead of numbers and
what not it's just a line of 0000000000. also, with the 666
thing. in one song, i can't remember which (maybe alpha and
omega) theres a message played back wards that says god with
horns. which is OUR MASTER SATAN

offline Darth manchu from Cambridge (United Kingdom) on 2002-04-26 16:36 [#00195480]
Points: 1897 Status: Regular

The cd is 666.9mbs big.

9 = number of god.

I heard that magic window is the frequency that the
millitary use.

with the mp3 format you can't get anything 'cause mp3 uses
some psychoaccustic effects, for ex. it cuts off requency at
i think 19khz. the only way to go is ripping it as .wav;
since cd's are only capable of 22.05khz (which is half of
44.1khz) i doubt that the military have something to do with
that. this frequency is damn low, maybe radar or something?
anyways the wavelength 'd be so large that you'd hardly see
mountains :-) i think they play with us
i've not ripped it as wav yet, so i dunno if there's
anything

the last side on my vinylset (entitled "magic window") is
entirely blank, except for an engraved picture of a man,
woman and two children all holding hands. weird.

it also says 162. MHz, which is way beyond the
frequency range the ear can hear. still, doesn't look
there's any music, or noises whatsoever on the last side.

oooh...mystery.

162 MHz can't be transmitted in air, and no speakers can
move their magnets that fast. if you'd make 'em move that
fast they'd travel back in time.

offline joakim from Norway on 2002-04-26 17:32 [#00195521]
Points: 327 Status: Lurker

162.225 MHz, i just checked. so...when playing a given
frequency, a speaker attempts to make some magnet oscillate
at that exact frequency ?

offline Cheffe1979 from fuck (Austria) on 2002-04-26 17:46 [#00195523]
Points: 4630 Status: Lurker

yep, magnets are used cause one wants to move them with
electricity. (usually theres a mixture of many frequencies)
they are fixed to the membran, and the oscillating membran
makes pressure waves and they are transmitted through the
air; there's another membran in the ear that's connected to
a complicated mechanism whcih makes us hear.
If the frequency gets higher than the wavelength gets
shorter-> if the wavelength is shorter than the average
distance of two molecules in the air than it cannot be
transmitted. i think the upper limit is still beyond 100khz.
in water it's higher, cause the distance of the molecules
there is much shorter; that's why delphins can hear those
high frequencies.
but maybe this window is only on the cd? it could be on the
cd, but you couldn't play it...

the electromagnets create a magnetic field around the voice
coil, causeing the speaker/driver to oscillate (cones moves
up on positive signal, down on negativ signal)

the magnet is fixed

offline joakim from Norway on 2002-04-26 17:51 [#00195528]
Points: 327 Status: Lurker

the sound cannot propagate in air if the wavelenght is
shorter than the average distance between to molecules...why
is that exactly ? (i got really interested, i'm studying
maths & physics)

guess the mass of the magnet wouldn't be of negligible order
anymore either...:o)

consider the wave at a given time; than you have highs of
pressure and lows of pressure, depending on where you are.
within the highs the molecules are more dense, and within
the lows there are fewer. the wave propagates due to the
collisions of the particles. (when going to lower scale the
density reduces-> fewer particles per wavelength). if the
wavelength is too short you simply cannot create the
differences of pressure that are necessary, cause you don't
have enough particles for that. if there where continua it'd
be all no problem.

man, my english is really too weak for this :-)

i don't believe there is so much controversy over a BLANK
TRACK. man i was just lookin on the joyrex board per a link
on this topic and this is straight crazy. theres more talk
about the blank track than there are about any of the tracks
on this album put together.
