Congradulations... that should be fun.

Do me a favor, and suggest that they fix the sequencer, and
make it render properly...

The only thing that really holds it back is the rendering!!!

What are you concerns with the rendering??? What exactly is
the problem???

It's (beta version) pretty good. The new compressor is okay,
but not brilliant (like PSP vintage warmer). General
mastering tools are good. Combinator is excellent- something
I've wanted for a while...

Things to suggest to them (if you agree with them, as I
cannot submit feedback on it, thanks):

I'd still like to see a "reverse" button in the sequencer on
the same menu that has increase/decrease speed, "alter
notes", etc.

Higher resolution in the sequencer might be nice- 1/64th
isn't enough for ultra precise IDM beat tom-foolery.

Now we have the combinator, it'd be nice to have some
lower-level units, so we can build our own modular synths
(sticking together oscillators, sample players, different
filters, etc.) a sort of "Reaktor for beginners." With
reason's wiring/routing capabilities it'd be sweet and not
too hard for them to implement.

I'd also like an "internal midi controller". Basically a
small knob-box that has a CV out for each dial, so you can
control key aspects of combinator patches.

Cheers.

I just always found that it sounded alright when you are
making it, then it always sounded too warm when it was
rendered, or if you were looking for a warm sound before you
rendered it, it sounded too murky.

Doesn't seem to be a problem so much in 2/2.5, but I
remember in reason 1, rendered wavs often sounded less
"full" than when played "live". I ended up recording them
playing, direct to wavelab, instead of rendering a few
times.

What is this combinator thing... is it a way to patch
together pieces from than one synth? or is it a modulation
tool?

sorry, I meant more full, as taxi says. It's almost
like a very subtle reverb or something that erodes detail
from the mix.

You can basically make a "rack within a rack", which you can
save/load. You can also control it with one sequencer
channel. So, for example, you can make a "patch" of a
subtractor, 2 malstroms and fx, all crossmodulating etc. and
then use it in another track or, make an identical copy in
the same song.

Very useful.

Ok i will put all these things forward, as well as some of
my suggestions.

I am really looking forward to having a play with this. It
should be loads of fun.

The combinator should be really cool. As ceri said it's
something i have been after for a long time as well.

Nice.

Did they add any new effects or synths? I liked it when they
added the maelstrom... I want more things like that.

Or a more sophisticated rex player. Maybe one with granular
pitch editing instead of the ever popular analogue style
they use...

Actually, all of their samplers would be a lot more usefull
if it incorporated granular time stretching...

No new synths.

But if go here you can read all about it!

One more thing:

I'd like them to disable all pre-configured midi, entirely.
No one uses it and it just creates extra work when people
customise controller to particular devices.

You want to be able to make your own midi mappings and cycle
between them, a channel for each device- not find out that
you CC also modifies something else. An "eliminate
duplicates" feature might be easiest to implement.

Hell, a seperate panel on each device to load a midi patch
(or at least include midi mappings as part of the things
combinator saves) would be great. It could be covered up
unless people enable external midi controllers.

I like Reason 3 as well. Shame I'm not an official Beta

yeah, that's really annoying... especially if you
accidentally move some of your midi controllers, and you
have no idea what its changed within reason.

w/ respect to rendered sounding less "full" than the
playback
were you playing back at full stereo >=48khz and rendering
to interleaved 44?
I have had problems like this before
