nice feature, but whoever developed this:

please don't tell me you're doing a mysql select every time
you query a user is online or not. this is going to
increase server load hugely, might explain why some people
are experiencing it to be slow. there's much more efficient
ways to achieve this (which, i assume you know of).

you mean I will like it with time?

well... I got my estetic taste pretty much formed by now...
I have my own estetical ideas (remember I am an architect)
and the minimalistical look of the place was one of the
bests I have seen till now

but when you start to add little things and colours it
breaks the balance of the page In my opinion of course....

maybe other colours and no borders would help

a neat feature that would be nice to add is a "users viewing
this thread" summary too, perhaps above the "instant reply"
textbox. i can see that as useful.

agreed. the suggestion of black/white boxes mentioned
earlier i quite like.

this isn't a nessecary feature, though, because the
information this presents in a slightly more usable format
is already available on the page anyway.

so we added a dot and the minimalstic look is now gone. i
guess you're allergic to the watmm layout then. ;-)

anyway, it will be replaced with something more subtle soon.

I dont say that just cos of that the minimalistic look is
gone... dont be so susceptible...

but minimalism is indeed very strict.... and when you start
adding things (as small as they are) the minimalism is in
danger....

if you say its gonna be changed by a more subtle thing in
the future then you are showing that you agree with me

about watmm:

it never pretended to be minimalistic, so its ok.
I am not a minimalism lover or something.... but if
something is minimalistic I want it to be it 100%
if something is "barroco" I want it 100% barroco

but I can like both styles

though I admitt I prefer the look of xlt.... but I supose I
have the right to have my own taste no matter where I am a
mod

Nacmat is the Albert Speer to Joyrex's Goebbels.

I know that doesn't really stand up to scrutiny but I
thought it sounded funny.

watmm is overboard, like when you completely cover your
walls in posters and magazine cuttings, putting crap up
there just to fill in the blank wall spaces...i prefer xlt

I hate signatures.

there's always a few gits that cram their allotted space
with deeplinked pics of everything they find remotely
interesting.

no

avatars feet perfectly cos they are windows to our brains,
they are not part of the page... more like holes in the
page... the squares are like m&ms all over the page

big they make your page run slower, or what?

just because you thought up some kind of philosophy behind
avatars they're okay? I THINK NOT!

following that logic the squares are just "windows into our
online/offline-ness" and therefore quite beautiful and
touching. :)

Sorry, I really do take that back. The joke was in the fact
that it didn't stand up to close, nor indeed cursory,
analysis. I am in no way suggesting your aesthetics align
you with any facistic tendancies.

I think no border on the squares, and different shades of
grey or beige, or khaki, as is the current XLT palate.

they're extremely ugly and make the place (any Invision

chaotic than it already was.

I agree with you

I cannot make an statement here

I will just describe my likings:

I like xlt looks more than anyother page in the internet

I like how avatars fit in xlt

I dont like the new little squares

and I am happy to see that phob thinks like me in some % as
he is changing them to something more subtle

How about in the space under our avatar if it clearly said
Online or Offine? That way black text could be used. It
might look better.

Dunno though

I was just arguing for argument's sake. :)

anyway, I agree with the green/red thing - like dog_belch
says, something more part of the current XLT-palate would be
better.
