Yep, and I recall my fellow Norwegian, mortsto-x, owning one
too.

no, but draft 7.30 almost sounds like it should have been
left as a cassette release - side A lasts until the end of
surripere, and side A all goes together quite nicely - side
B contains the rest of the album, and those songs fit
together to - its almost uncanny how much the album is like
this promo - makes me think about draft 7.30 as a cassette
release.

I own two of the promo cassettes, but since I only own 1 CD
version the CD and 1 tape cancel each other out and so
therefore... yes! :D

The question is: Is it a jackpot if I have the Draft-CD,
-vinyl and -tape?

boring i must say, forgetable. just alot of wanking around,
which isn't enough to impress me. cos without the "feeling"
(for rhythm, melody etc..), there is no point in fancy sound
fuckery.

Reniformpuls is nice though. atleast the first part.
Surripere is pretty ok.

i like their older stuff better. and a few tracks from
confield.

feeling is projected. it's not inherent to music itself.

That's the ugliest artwork i've ever seen, even for a promo.

are you talking about the cassette version? you saw that
much difference between it and the cd/vinyl versions? wow,
what an ear!

yeah, i've only heard the cassette version. but i think
that's enough to get the idea how the album sounds.

why, the album is great - imo its better than a lot of stuff
ive heard from more respectable electronic artists

it is very plain jane - possible done on purpose? or did
warp really want to save some cash?

No idea... most of the promos i have are just black text on
a white background. I'm stumped as to why warp would
increase printing costs whilst simultaneously making my eyes
want to bleed.

its comical because, with the attention that his received -
any artists would have done it for free just to get their
stuff out there.

i guess i'm just not really that much into abstract
electronic music. some of it sounds good, but nothing that
makes me cream my pants. anyway, this is just my opinion of
the album. i respect autechre, they're really doing their
own unique thing. but, it just doesn't float my boat
really.

I loved this album, but I don't got it on tape, although the
murky qualities of tape would have transfered well with the
sound of this album

yeah i mentioned it. it's very nice, i wish rest of the
album would sound more like it.

i think this is the most accessible ae release and one of
their best to date - its got some great cut up hip hop a la
vproc, surripere is in my top 5 ae tracks, well side A on
this is the best they have ever sounded imo, the only tracks
that dont catch my attention the way the others do are
theme... and vlal5, they are great and probably the most
accessible you will ever get from the ae boys but i cant
place them on this release, they somehow dont fit.

that's funny. because i find it to be the most least
accessible.

that would be confield imo - took me 6 months! and also
that isssa release, it is great but it takes some time to
'get', whereas i immediatly loved draft - it remains for me,
a mix tape of their own stuff - kind of like a best of, of
new stuff.

I've said it before and i'll say it again, i still think ep7
is the best starting point for people new to ae, at least
for those who've delved a little into the stinking cesspool
that is electronic music. Incunabula and amber are too
meandering and "retro" (even though i do like them), and the
later stuff is too gritty and abstract for "new" ears.

Ep7: The connoisseur's choice.

my theory, and not just for autechre, is to start with the
latest and work your way back - it might discourage some,
but it works - if you can like where an artist is, you will
like were they were - and for me i started with confield!
and worked my way back to incunabula. i ended up liking
everything except for incuna and amber

ep7 i've never been able to get into.

i like their eps the most. Garbage, Anvil Vapre, Envane and
the 2 peel sessions.

This album undeniably contains rhythm, melody and fancy
sound fuckery. What are you listening to?

Pretty cold and emotionless. I do own it, but hardly listen
to it. I've tried so many times with this. I much prefer
earlier stuff, and how anyone can think that anything other
than Incunabula or Amber is the best starting point for Ae
is beyond me. Bring back the good old days, and fast. This
should have been the Matrix soundtrack, it sounds like its
made by machines, void of a heart.

I havent stopped listening to analord since i got my grubby
mitts on it and i fucking love it; music that is technically
superb AND full of emotion. cant wait for more. dont get me
wrong i do love ae just not this or confield.

I like Confield and find it very enjoyable. Weirdly though,
I agree with people who say Draft sounds like wanking
about...Confield was abstract, but it was also very
structured and sounded very polished and finished. Draft
really sounds like Ae got some cool plugins and just threw
tracks together which mutated with little thought or care;
sure there are some funky moments, but it does sound like a
"draft" rather then a full album. Even Surripere isn't all
that-that drum wankery at the end gets boring and is
uneccessarily long winded.
