but something makes it so that they always need me to have
"at least [number which is MUCH less than what I have] free
memory," and this computer is NOT winxp, it's win98, and old
as hell! anyone knows any ways of making the dos that runs
in the background of win98 have memory?

do you mean the dos that runs in the background, or the
other dos which runs in the foreground in front of windows
which is front of the true dos?

errrh... the dos that appears when I click on a dos-game...
it's a window...

try running it from true dos (the former) and not in windows
(the latter)

cannae remember tho, so there was no point saying it

well it's a last resort option. If NOTHING else works
and/or you're lazy, try that. There are ways to tweak
settings or restart in dos (in which case you may still have
had to tweak your configuration), but this is a safe bet,
and furthermore good on many platforms.

yeah, it was kind of slow...

the thing is that these games are nagging about 600kbs of
memory and stuff like that, and I know I've got that much
free...

damn... I was actually looking up MAME earlier... weird.
So I could look at / play "Zero Wing"
u know... all ur base r belong to us

About the DOS thing.... right click on the game shortcut and
click on the memory tab. See if any of those settings help.
You might need to tweak your sysedit files / make more
memory.
Google it

FAggotry is rife.

I think it's a case of log off to DOS mate.

ah, good old conventional RAM.

you've only got 640kb of conventional RAM; even on the best
x86 computer available today. the architecture is filled
with all sorts of bizarre workarounds and limitations that
most people don't know about, or remember.

you want to basically boot DOS with hardly any device
drivers or such to get the most out of your conventional
RAM.

I never could get Wipeout XL for PC to run with sound on any
of my PC's... the SB16 emulator on my SB Live and Audigy
just never did work right with 98SE. Always fucking
crashed.
*goes to closet to find Wipeout*
...I found out that the sntrk. to it is all trackered music
