I'm going to go find you some python manuals right now. I
have to go to sleep soon, though. teaching really exhausts
me (thread is on next page). It was much nicer this time,
though I made an embarrassing error. smart students.

ok here you go:
python language tutorial
python-gimp page

the built-in python console in the gimp has a large help
index.

we have one very special moose we're extracting juice from,
so we don't need to worry about plural forms.

Thanks, wrote down the links. One thing I want to do is be
able to code two gifs to be played transparently on top of
eachother, only having different speeds or number of frames.
In this current avatar, for example, each head could have a
uniqe cycle out of phase with the other heads so that it's
always different.. though using minimal data. Like the first
one first one could look up once every 4 frames, the second
head could cough or something every 7 frames etc. I'm sure
this is probably a pretty standard simple idea to code. Then
again, most 16 bit videogames didn't seem to do that many
visually interesting things.
Also it'd be hard but cool to make the top gif I posted draw
inward, but then have the inner spike part, and only that
part spin around 45 degrees every time it gets inside of the
circle.
Or instead of having a single static image move toward the
center in 4 quadrants, have that image itself have animated
parts, like rolling eyes or whatever.

I can't picture a vulture right now..

yeah for the first part it could go through two sorce
images, interleave layers, and merge down.

problem is that detailed gifs get low size when layers can
be optimized into transparency (meaning there's lots of
common pixels between each frame). Trasparency is always
very sensitive so it may be hard to keep image size down,
and the gif optimizer in the gimp isn't very bright.

I'm interested in trying this some time too; there are all
sorts of cool recursive tricks you could do to get pretty
stuff easily.

if you want something REALLY nice, check out this,
or just google for 'collective nouns' (I arbitrarily
selected the first hit).

"collectives nouns" like a "gaggle" of geese etc. seems like
such an unnecessary decoration of the language, requiring a
memory of many words when one would suffice, like.. group or
something.

I'd say it's memetically similar to the long ludicrous list
of phobias people named. It just got fun for people to make
up new ones and it snowballed.

yeah it's silly but fun. Most of it is bullshit, just
random crap from random bad authors. Murder of crows is
great, though.

O look a "bungle" of yellow spotted 3 toed salamanders!

No, no, only yellow spotted 5 toed salamanders
qualify as a bungle. That group is a "chonfo".
