I have bought a 1GB One. I will let you know what I think when it turns up. I have been resisting to buy and Ipod or Mini because I cannot justify £180-£300 they cost in England. I thought I would just spend 99 quid and lose it or break in a couple of weeks. Then go back to my sony CD player I have had for 5 years and protest mp3 players are shite forever more.

What bothers me the most is that even apple knows it's a gimmick.

just look at their website! It's pages of BS persuading you that shuffle-play will make you more productive, sexier, smarter, happier, do the dishes, and rub your genital organs just right.

I mean seriously, look at the page. It's the worst elitist shit ever. They keep talking about style, as if their invoking some magic incantation, automatically blessing everything theirs as superior.

They're hoping to blind everyone to the fact that it is the most underfeatured, underpowered, and under-designed (yes, just think about it) player on the market.

oh don't get me wrong; of course that's the definition of elitism and the standard economic dick-suck behavior. It's just so fucking retarded to do it about 'style'. What the fuck does that mean anyway?

let me flesh out why I'm so bitter about apple.
after they made mac OS X (which by the way isn't innovative, and also they took the core of that system from an existing OS), they really starting picking up, making some good decisions, and I got pretty excited!

About a year ago, after they started getting fat with ipod earnings, it all went to their god damned heads and that attitude adjustment is not only a big disappointment but of course a huge turnoff.

And look at their products now! They just make derivative shit, put on a high price tag, and act like gods! Furthermore, apple hardware used to be VERY dependable, but now they're starting to cut corners.. for instance ipods aren't so durable, and the batteries are a wreck.

did you notice the battery life on the shuffle! Holy fucking SHIT! flash ram takes WAY less juice than a hard drive (orders of magnitude), and the other new players coming out now have ridiculously superior battery life (iAudio g3 has 50 hours!!!).
