I have: Not for threes, rest proof clockwork, trainer and double figure.
the last one is my favourite so far, I couldnt get into trainer yet, and not for threes and rest proof clock work are doing ok on me, but i dont think they can be compared to any autechre´s or aphex´s... think that plaid is an step bellow.. very good music though.
what do you think?? (by the way, i think I already said this, but I decided to get ino plaid thanks to woofer´s comments)

yeah plaid are a bit hit and miss but when they hit they hit-i think double figure is a bit disappointing though. and ive seen them a couple of times at warp gigs and once they were incredible got the house well pumping, but then on the second gig they were plain boring.
have you checked out black dog mate? strongly advise you give spanners and primarily bytes a listen-its a great electro album ;>

i agree completely. not keen on double figure, my fave plaid track is ralome, but as black dog they really kicked ass. bytes was a landmark album, in my mind it still is. a very well produced piece of work...........

I disagree. I could easily put 2-3 Plaid-albums/EP's into my TOP 10 list. I just love Plaid - I like the harmony and the melodies. They are genius.

Plaid are (barring Double Figure CD) my favorite artists right after Aphex Twin.
Their sense of melody is brilliant and haunting. I definetely find them far more enjoyable then Squarepusher, Bogdan and the likes, or even Autechre (at times).
Their Live Performance at WARP 10 in October of 1999 is (to me ) one of the most haunting, beautiful and terrifying electronic performances I have ever heard, its simply stunning.
Some of Plaid's stuff is simply sheer genius IMO. Nuff Said...

Plaid are the best. I would also have to disagree, I find Plaid's work to be much more fullfilling to me than anything by 7\fx or AE.
Double Figure is a fantastic album, but if I had to choose my favorite, it'd be Trainer.
I'd suggest going back and listening to tracks 2, 3, and 8 off of Disc 2. They're my personal favorites, but I think you'd enjoy them as well.
I can't wait for the Warp show in Chicago, I've yet to see Plaid live.

I'll take Plaid over every other IDM artist. As far as I'm concerned their songwriting is genius and their musicianship is awesome - the variety in their sound rivals Aphex.
And one day I WILL get into Black Dog too ;)

as for black dog, i have this one on mp3:
black dog and black sifichi - unsavoury products. its unlike any plaid i've heard, but great nonetheless.

explain this to me:
"I decided to get ino plaid"
huh? i mean you IDMeers have taken so religiously the fact that sometimes (note I said sometimes) you get to like something you don't like if you listen it at the right time. did you inherit this concept from being a radiohead fan?
don't waste uyour time, if you like it you like it and if you don't you don't, period.

plaid are fantastic, in a less challenging way than afx or ae, who stun me with their originality. plaid stun me with their lush sounds and melodies. so.. does this make plaid the middle ground, between say, boc and ae?
My fave is double figure, my mates fave is rest proof... i've argued this enough, im not getting involved on here too.
and when i saw them live they blew me away

Plaid is, to me, the people's IDM artist. They basically take the best elements from all the other really good idm musicians and combine them into something totally beautiful that hits all the right spots, all the time... for me that is.
