Jeering teens hang family dog Ian Williams, Journal Staff Writer Edmonton Journal
Sunday, February 03, 2002
NEWSLETTERS
A 10-year-old St. Albert boy watched helplessly Saturday afternoon as three jeering teens hanged his pet dog, Sheba, from playground equipment.
The apparently senseless violence shocked even police investigating the case. "I've never dealt with anything like this before in terms of somebody maliciously killing an animal," said Const. Mike Moulds, a 14-year veteran officer working at the St. Albert RCMP detachment.
"This is quite disturbing to think that people could do this. Very disturbing," said Moulds, his voice trailing off.
The boy's mother, who only wanted the family's first names used, said Saturday night her son, David, had been crying uncontrollably since the family's dog was killed shortly after 2 p.m. Saturday.
"There are sick kids out there and they need help and they need to come to justice," said Donna. "They traumatized my 10-year-old son. He blames himself for this because he couldn't do anything."
She said the whole family is mourning the loss of their eight-year-old German shepherd-cross.
"I've been crying. Dad's been crying. His sister's been crying. David's oldest brother was at work when all this happened. When he got home, he put on his boots and shirt and left. He didn't know how to deal with this."
Moulds said the three youths, believed in their mid-teens, hanged Sheba with her leash from the top of a piece of playground equipment at Sir Alexander Mackenzie elementary school, at 61 Sir Winston Churchill Avenue in St. Albert.
David had been playing in the park and was playing on the slide, taking rides with Sheba when a group of three boys appeared and began taunting him.
"They were cat-calling at him before that and then they got up on the play structure where the boy was with his dog," Moulds said.

Grabbing Sheba they hanged her off the equipment and left the dog to die.
Meanwhile, David yelled for help and ran to a nearby skating rink. He asked a stranger with a cellphone to "please call my mom and dad because my dog is strangling," said Donna.
Moulds said help came, but not soon enough. "Some men came over and took the dog down and tried to revive her. When we got there the dog had passed away," said Moulds.
David, who had grown up with Sheba, was despondent. "Every time he cries, I cry," said Donna. "I'm trying to keep him calm because if I cry I'm no good to anybody."
Moulds said officers have fanned out looking for information on suspects.
"We've got the word out on the street right now. With any youths we've seen and talked to we've given the descriptions. We're getting some help on the file."
One male is described as having been dressed in black pants, a shirt with a SISKO dragon emblem and a black leather jacket with silver chains and a SISKO dragon on them. He had a long chain attached to the side of his pants.
The second youth was dressed in orange pants and jacket and was wearing a green hat. His eyebrows were greased to look like devil horns.
The third male was dressed all in red, with red pants, shoes and a red jacket. He wore a series of earrings.
Anyone with any information is asked to call St. Albert RCMP or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).

fucking sick...
did u guys read about that video those two dumbass students at (i think)OCAD (ontario academy of art and design)?
they fucking SKINNED A CAT ALIVE to make a 12 minute "art" film....
they showed a tiny clip of it on the news.. just this cat sitting there looking sort of scared in an empty room.. (taht was the begining of the video)
and on top of that.. they said its supposed to be about cruelty towards animals! (and presumably against it)
wtf is taht!?!??
i didn't find out what ended up happening to them.. but they used the "but its art" excuse...

You share the same basic dna as the cat skinners and the dog hangers. If given the right nurture ingredients, I know any one of you would do the same thing. It almost doesn't matter. This particular case appears shocking, but think how much death is a part of life. Carnivores hunt and kill and rip apart animals while they're still alive on a very regular basis. If you see a solitary ant walking on the ground, then just watch it really closely for a long while, step into it's "shoes", just see how small it is and watch what it does. Have an intimate moment with it... and then squish it... end it's life. And look at the dead body while knowing that you alone ceased it's life, on purpose. Then there are all the ants you step on on accident... *cries and runs away*

Someone asked me yesterday if I'd eat dog. Why not, we are the people that domesticate these animals into pets. I wonder if we kept chickens as pets we'd say it was sick to eat them.
Ofcourse, cruelty is another thing and those guys are sick.

Ubik: You serious?
w M w: I don't know, I think if you do stuff like that you're pretty twisted, although I completley understand your point; People often do sick/cruel things for 'fun' it's just that this was particularly extreme and noticable. How many people toy with other's emotions or lie to create 'amusing' social situations?
Mind you, Henry Miller (The Author) killed another kid by throwing a stone at him when he was a kid, but he wasn't neccesarily evil. Although he WAS pretty fucked up. However, he did write very good books. Oh I can't decide. The point I'm trying to make is hopefully those 3 kids will grow out of stuff like this. I think sending them to prison would put them on a downward spiral and they may get into crime. Still, they should be punished.
I remeber when one of my friends was attacked by these two kids outside his school and he refused to fight back because they had a block of wood, he kept "saying put it down and I'll fuck you both up". He just stood there laughing as they kichked the shit out of him. Even when he was covered in blood he didn't fall over or try to run away, he just stood there laughing till they ran away scared.
Even after all that he didn't press charges, because he felt they would get even worse if they went to jail. He just got the headteacher to suspend them. I think he's pretty cool.

that's fucked up. but this type of practice is almost regular in the north, where i once lived. okay, not strangling the poor things like that, buy my mom's dog, who was a beautiful and friendly little beast, got shot in the middle of town. my uncle had a dog, a rotweiler (spelling?) and he was tied on in the yard. he got shot while he was tied on. up north (northern quebec) some days the town council has days open for people to kill dogs and when they bring the tails to the council office, they get 40 $ a pop. FUCK. joey

the kid did it himself...and made up that story?? and he's 10 years old? whoa...thats even sicker...
though his story was believable..because the kids he described were realistic...
kinda reminded me of this one time i was waiting for a bus and there were some little punk kids at the bus stop ( like 5th grade-middle school age) and one of them was milling around talking to his friend and some pigeon landed near the bus stop..and this kid screamed at it and chased it away..and then said in his stupid southern maine accent "heh..too bad we didnt have that pellet gun..could've shot that little bitch in the head..heheh" granted this isnt nearly as bad as hanging your dog...but it pisses me off that some kids actually think this way...

the story i read said the 10 year old kid tied the dog leash to the top of the playground slide, then told his dog to stay at the top... but the dog tried to jump off the slide and hung himself. so the kid fibbed and mad up a story about teenagers.
well, i guess a 10 year old kid would freak out after stupidly killing his dog, and try to deny he did it.
people that piss me off are people who say "i beat that stupid dog everday and it still doesnt behave". its not the dogs fault for being inbred and domesticated, but it IS the owners fault for being a stupid asshole who tries to solve problems by yelling and beating.
