hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm

I can "not" find the quir thread fs. I'm amazed a real "jpg"
came out of MY computer. A real one.
I'm trying to figure out how to copy and paste something
over the top of something transparently. I should read the
help file. Actually, I think it said "you don't have the
help files installed" or something retarded. Well that's
good luck for me because normally something like this would
spite me by installing only the help files and not the
program or something.

Just go through all the options; that's how I learned it.
There's a way to get a layer view, and there you can compose
things in different way and alter transparency etc. That
should do the trick!

money on the internet.

you know, you say it in this aloof way making fun of me and
yourself in a tongue-in-cheek sort of way, but you're only
making fun of yourself in a dick-in-anus sort of way, which
is exactly what you want so touche.

BTW I appreciated your aphex response the other day. I'm
saying this because eh, you probably think I'm being
sarcastic, ehhh timetoshutup

Please keep up this artificial veil of qrter-tolerance until
the 3 months of your probation is up. After that you can
safely attempt to assassinate him again. Damn, this picture
is good.

*sigh* I detatched my "tool tab"... too bad there's no way
to reattach it. Now I always have two windows where there
once was one. Can't you make everything all into one window
or something.. a picture in the middle and the tools on the
side?

No, there's no way to attach the other shit to the viewing
window I think =( .. they get a lot of shit for their
interface.. what does full screen mode do in windows?

this place has been fun for me since I came back. I have a
bad feeling there will be some closing and screamings soon..
eh

Does everything have to be so difficult? In a half hour or
so I can't figure out how to copy something and they paste
it on itself transparently. Making an animation with this
will take a year to figure out. I hate everything.

offline sneakattack on 2005-01-02 19:00 [#01442809]

ohhh hmmm..

first if you right click on a new image, their should be a
dialogs menu item, and under that layers. The layers dialog
(that's a term for a small interactive window, like a file
selection dialog) is always open when I use the gimp.

Anyway, do something in the current layer, then, without
selecting anything, under right-click-menu select 'copy'..
then go over to layers, create a new one, and go back to the
image view and hit paste.. now note this is now a 'floating
layer'; you have to 'anchor' it to the selected layer. You
can do that with the anchor button in the layers dialog.

there are lots of hotkeys and controls; with time you'll get
fast with it! I've heard photoshop is better but I've never
used it.. I've never done great stuff with this but have
used it for.. oh shit 7 years.. and think it is a pretty fun
program.

Holy hell. This really is fucking difficult. Am I retarded?
I should just kill myself now. Gimp was created by Satan.

Or even worse, god.

Oh my god, I just tried to start gimp again and clicked on
the wrong icon which lead me to gimp.org instead of starting
the program. I'm going to make a new image, in gimp, if I
can
that says "gimp sucks blue whale testicles". Oh
forget it, I spent an hour on this picture so will just use
it again.

haha. Like I said people dis the interface shitloads.. but
from what I've seen sound engineering software is much more
coplicated.. Anyway just keep playing with it and try not to
get frustrated! Maybe instead of approaching it with the 'I
need THIS result NOW' attitude, just try incrementally using
all the tools, tweaking all their settings, playing with all
the settings, going through all the filters.. in other words
enjoy discovering it. Then you will be at peace with
yourself and god. Amen.

Seriously, are there not about one hundred sub folders in
gimp...
Hmm, let's click on gimp

Let's click on 2.0
Let's click on lib
Let's click on gtk-2.0
Let's click on 2.4.0
Finally let's click on engines

There it is, the engines folder, right where I knew it would
be.

Let's see here... oh this folder is completely empty. What
the hell is it's purpose? I hate computers so much. I'm
going to heave this thing out the window after
smearing tuna on it. Maybe a coyote will take it away. I
hate humans for inventing computers.

This thread is all about Chris Ochre's Timberlake remix by
the way. I did tediously finish "mapping" chemical plant
zone so that it sounds pretty much the same. Now I'm going
to try to find oil ocean zone since I havn't played/heard
that in a long time.

hotbot lets you exclusively search for pages with
mp3s. But I doubt this will be helpful.

Man, I don't know what could possibly make you insist on
mp3. The ogg is there for free on his own site, and
there are numerous ways of converting that to mp3 if you
really need to.

ANYWAY I just listened to it and it's proper good an ting.

yep, album track - it wasn't too difficult as the track
elements are introduced gradually. just sliced it up and
resequenced.
