I know there are threads about this but I am wondering if
anyone else is using any software to do this and what you
are using..

yesterday I downloaded Virtual DJ and it is quiet good,
although I can´t compare it with other programs because I
never played with a live DJ tool before

you should try Traktor DJ.
it does exactly what you want.

I've tried to use Traktor DJ Studio but I haven't had much
success. It can't seem to work out any BPMs on it's own and
it doesnt believe me when I work them out for it.

Well.. I just wanted to play with it and check it out. If I
am over at a friends house and a party breaks out or
something, there is a good chance I would have my laptop
with me and not my decks.

if it's just for making a party, you can use MJ STUDIO (but
be careful, there is a spyware in it, so use adaware to
remove the spy juste after); it's very easy to use ; or you
can try ATOMIX or TRAKTOR ; MIX VIBES is easy but no
beatmatching ; if you really wanna mix well go for TRAKTOR
but not the others i suggested ; i know there are other
software existing but don't recall their names

good luck

Mixing 4/4 music with traktor is as easy as taking candy
from a baby. It gets a bit more difficult when it comes to
IDM though.

this traktor looks good enough. can i send each channel to a
seperate out on my soundcard so i can mix it down on my
mixer instead of within the software?

I use traktor dj studio so I can click the 'sync' button and
BAM two tracks together instantly, so precious time can be
spent cueing up two more vinyls for 4-way aural fun

traktor is great, good for everything
theres also an open source clone, mixxx which I
find quite good.
If you want to record a mix, hit the record button ;)
