yay or nay?
it's nay for me. i don't really think setting goals would help me get from life what i want. especially since i don't know what i want from life :)
but seriously, do you think setting goals is a good thing?

yes, goals are essential. No matter how false they are, they give you a real reason to exist. What the goals are...well that's up to you, but everyone has to have something they want to acheive.

depends on your personality i guess...
if you have a strong spirit of challenge, you probably feel worthless and useless and lifeless and bad without a goal in life. if you're lazy and nihilist by nature, then i guess it's ok to not have any (won't help you cure lazyness though).
personally i can try to set goals in life but it doesn't make me struggle to achieve them in any way (so completely pointless)... maybe my lazyness, lack of motivation, nihilism and all that are just so big, no goal could ever stand a chance against them...

i never really set specific longterm goals for myself, more like a general path that i try to stay somewhat close to.

...you might as well try to set some anyway. it's more likely to do you good than harm (unless your goal in life is to achieve the record of highest jump over an active volcano, or something like that...).

HAHAHA, you seem to be in a good mood today :) "personally i can try to set goals in life but it doesn't make me struggle to achieve them in any way (so completely pointless)"
i think that kind of goes for me as well..i have a few things in mind and am trying to achive them, but im not really struggling. im just optimistic about it and think they're going to happen eventually :)
(nothing extreme like jumping volcanos, but still a bit high expectations for the most people i think - that is if i judge based on my friends, although i was there already so i know it's not imposible).

there are people who go with the flow and there are people who make rigid goals that end up in the same place, sometimes. If you don't really know what you want. Float along and let things organically develop. You'll find what's best for you.

if you don't set goals you don't get the benefit of feeling like you've worked hard to accomplish something
everything seems a lot more random without goals

I'm at the part in my life where I'm about to embark upon the pursuit of my goals and being as lazy as I possibly can before I begin because once I do start, I vow not to stop.

im pretty inpatient so setting long term goals and being commited to them is somewhat unrealistic. so short term, day to day, goals are a lot better.
and i do set goals of trying to be less inpatient with my goals. but im too inpatient to reach that goal. :/

It upsets me that I could try hard, waste time building up to something, and have it taken all away by, like, Leukemia or a big explosion. Or a scorpion, who knows? I just try to be happy and content. This results are extreme laziness, because I'm REALLY good at entertaining myself, lots of interests. But of course it's phenomenally immature and silly to quit school and stop working for half a year, like I have.
I think I have too much faith in myself. I feel like I can do whatever I need to do when it needs to be done. Less competent people than me are plenty successful. I don't have a plan now, let alone a plan on how to carry out that plan, but I'll see what happens. I really hate to commit myself, I already spent 2 years studying for... well, nothing of note.
