Stealing got me somewhere between £600 and £1000 worth of music (i kind of lost count) before i got arrested. It's a piece of fucking piss as long as you know what you are doing and you know where the CCTV blind spots are, i only got caught because i was fucked off my tits. Be careful. |

although i'm not condoning stealing of any kind, i would like to point out that shoplifting doesn't hurt the artist - just the store. the stores first buy the cds that they sell, so if anything, they would just have to order more from the label. when you think about it that way, shoplifting a record from a store (especially a major chain) actually does less damage than downloading mp3s of an album on the interwebs. |

i went on a book shoplifting binge a couple of years ago, it lasted several months until i called it quits after a couple of close calls. i couldn't come up with a defensible argument why not to steal from a corporation like chapters (book megacorp, swallows up small stores) but it boiled down to this: i didn't want to be the sort of person that steals habitually. i felt some degree of shame and loss of control. it's very addictive, and in the end you do it for the thrill moreso than the product itself. anyways, be careful. |

I was a terror on my college campus. Stealing everything in site. I really hate myself for doing it now. Many years ago, but I was just awful. I really hurt people. this thread rules! and for me, i dont think its wrong to steal music from big outlets. it might even be less wrong than having a 40 gb MP3 folder, because in the end, the labels / artists still get their cash. just dont get caught. having to deal with the police and justice and all is a fucking pain in the ass - ive been there. |
