from experience.. i find that woman liking gay guys gives them a sense of belonging that they don't normally get. usually the out there gay guys are very femme and have specific tastes and likes.. so when they compliment and enjoy a woman's personality, style etc it's a huge compliment. and also being around gay men is very unthreatening.. and you never have to worry about them hitting on you, using you for other intentions. when gay men like you, they like you for you.. not for a chance at romance for a trip to the bedroom. it's a different level of respect and it's very flattering. |

I guess I identify with the Gen X subcultures with a large circle of friends that were one extreme from another. My best mate David was my partner in drinking and getting completely wasted tripping and have a blast at the local pub in Paraparaumu with my platonic lesbian friend Tania. My workmates were gay and we did outrageous things include go to the parties where the leather boys were a blast, I would go to both gay and lesbian clubs, the Hero parties as a straight friend and met LES GIRLS who were awesome people. I used to think these goregous men were a complete waste but I grew to enjoy their friendship and never had to put with some dork hitting on me. MY David used to get annoyed at me playing music, but one night at the pub my lesbian friend Tania and I played a Nirvana song repeatedly on the duke box and got the whole pub of blokes to sing along and we all had a lot of fun as I get away with more with my gay mates. This is a complete constrast to my punk and skinhead counterparts some of which were extremely homophobic but never did I mix the two as I loved going to pubs, clubs and venues to dance or to go OI! |
