Today was the first time i got workers comp. I got the whole afternoon to sit at home and put ice on my head wondering how much money I could have sued and gotten for a throbbing bump on my head.
It happened while dropping a box onto a dolly cart, here is a dramatization of what took place today:
(turns out the man portraying me is black, not that I care, he did an excellent job of recreating the situation.)

Imagine stepping on rake and having it hit you in the face, only now imagine the rake is made of metal and you dropped a 75lb box onto it.

i used to work in a warehouse at a sears.
one time when i was in a hurry to grab a little tv off the top shelf, it slipped out of my hands, and fell onto my head screen first. it was in a box, but that didn't pad things much.
it nearly knocked me out, but i didn't fall somehow. that was pretty awesome.

This happened to me when I was 11. I've indicated the location of me by the use of the "me" word and an arrow. Observant members will notice that the bus is missing a door. This is due to lack of being arsed. Please don't write in.

I dont have any recent injuries nor do i have pictures of the ones i sustained.
But there was one that would be good on video:
Throughout the night (my 22nd birthday) i was flirting with this chick. She took my hat and was being sassy (for lack of a better term). I was trying to get it back all night while progressively getting shit faced. At bar close we were standing at the top of a flight of stairs. I was kissing her and whatever and then i noticed the hat in her left hand.
It appeared she didnt have a firm grip on it so i stopped and said "guess what" i immediately grabbed the hat and jumped for the top of the stairs, hat in hand.
I was looking towards the landing area to try to brace myself for impact. I landed awkwardly. and ended in a sitting position. what i didnt know was that she was pulled behind me my the force or loss of balence and she landed on top of me folding my body in half.
The impact of a girl flying down a flight of stairs, folding you up.... is something that needs to be seen and experienced. I layed there for 2-3 minutes pretending to be unconcious (drunk) and then i flew up with mild pain and said "WE'RE GOING TO (insert mexican restruant here)"
To which we did. I was sore and hurting for a week or two after that. I remember being worried in the morning that i was injured.

When I was 9 or 10 or so I was hit by a van that didn't stop at a red light. I sort of jumped aside but it caught my leg in an awkward manner and snapped the thing to pieces, massive compound (bones jutting out) fracture of my tibia and fibula. It was totally disgusting and looked like my leg exploded. They fixed it up, God knows how, and it was quickly 101%, 'cept for a nasty scar (not as bad as it used to be). I still don't know how they do it, because the thing looked like shredded mincemeat, I was sure when I woke up in the hospital and looked down that it wouldn't be there.
Whenever I think of this injury, or see or hear about other broken legs, I can't even put any weight on my left leg, heh... it's all in the head. Andbody else experience this kind of phantom weakness?

That's the hole my tibia was poking out of! Fresh! It's till hyper sensitive, I'll flinch when I touch it. The skin is still fucked up irreparably a decade later.

i might reading this wrong from the head injury, but i'm pretty sure everything in this thread so far has actually happened. I forgot to explain that dropping the 75-80lb box on the dolly caused the dolly to swing up and into my forehead, and we all know how effective the physics are when it comes to levers. Especially when something as low friction as wheels are involved.

somebody glued a magazine cut out of that mouse to my locker in 7th grade.
anyways, on to injuries! i am daydreamy/clumsy at best, moronic at worst, so i have a couple of awful stories to tell.
in 5th grade, i was running through the woods playing with my little brother, and a twig got in my ear and punctured my ear drum and broke my "stirrup" bone. i have had 2 ear surgeries since, one in 7th grade and the other in 11th or 12th grade (the damn titanium prosthetic doesn't stay put, what can i say?).
also in 7th grade, i broke two bones in my arm in a TRACK MEET. i know, you're thinking, how the hell did she do that? i was running hurdles and i landed with my feet wrong and fell down, ok!
and erm...about 2 or 3 years ago i accidentally shot myself in the finger with a bebe gun loaded with a lead pellet. i had to have hand surgery to get it out. yeah...unfortunately i'm serious.
and then i cut my thumb on my other hand trying to open a box of records. (i am on a first name basis at the ER; my life is basically like a rerun of home improvement). you could see the bone before i got my stitches! here is a photograph. i suck!

yeah, it was pretty awful in the one ear for a while, but when i had the first surgery it was almost back to normal...then it got worse again, but then i had the next surgery and it's still fine. a bit rattley from the scar tissue, but that's to be expected apparantly. atleast it's not like having a set of headphones with only one side working anymore!

One day in 2nd grade I was on the monkey bars. it was early spring, the children frolicked about in mud puddles, dancing and chasing eachother like the gay faggots they all are. Anyway's I used my jacket as a sort of way to suspend myself in the airt without grabbing the bar. However things went terribly wrong. The way I was possitioned didn't allow me to grab back onto the bar (don't ask me how i did this, i could not explain) and I began to flail about undoing the contraption I had set up. I then slipped out of my jacket and fell down, hitting my head on every bar on the way down (roughly 8 bars). I landed in a strangely red mud puddle, two girls giggled at me. My friend mentioned I was bleeding, I put my hand on the back of my head to find that I had probably lost about 1/4 of the blood in my body; the puddle was filling with my own blood. Head wounds bleed a lot, I can still feel the scar.
that was longer than i thought it was going to be...?

ouch!! you guys had experienced some intense moments in your life for sure!!
I haven't had any serious injury, maybe just a really small scar in one hand, but no broken bones, never been in the hospital (for surgery or something like that)...
I'm scared, one of these days my friends will take me to the nearest hospital for something serious... I just can feel it! :(

On a more serious note: My headbump is still there, hower there is a area about 3 inches in diameter below the welt that is slightly raised (i'm guessing its filled with puss or something) but I read that bruises are likely to travel due to gravity, which would explain why its below the welt and nothing on the top of my head. I haven't been icing it down as much as I should be, so I'm thinking its just something temporary that will go away... Anyone have anything like this before?

Everybody got so wrapped up talking about their own injuries that they froget to tell Weatheredstoner what a jerkoff he is for smashing himself in the head with a dolly. The tragedy here being that he felt justified in suing someone for his stupidity.
I realize all dolly carts should come with a detailed description of Newtonian physics so fuckwits don't brain themselves. It's a fucking lever and a wheel for christ's sake! Maybe if you sober up long enough to pass a drug test they will let you drive a tow motor.- permanent disability here you come!
