like, whoa! a big torrent site has been busted, admins home
computers and cds taken ... i have never used it but still
very creepy. weird rumours are going about and some ips are
getting closed .... they say it's microsoft and teosto
(finnish riaa) that have pressed charges

I'm not a huge offender... only a few porn, TV and
application torrents here and there. No music, films or
computer games.

Finland, Finland, Finland,
The country where I want to be,
Pony trekking or camping,
Or just watching TV.
Finland, Finland, Finland.
It's the country for me.

You're so near to Russia,
So far from Japan,
Quite a long way from Cairo,
Lots of miles from Vietnam.

Finland, Finland, Finland,
The country where I want to be,
Eating breakfast or dinner,
Or snack lunch in the hall.
Finland, Finland, Finland.
Finland has it all.

You're so sadly neglected
And often ignored,
A poor second to Belgium,
When going abroad.

Finland, Finland, Finland,
The country where I quite want to be,
Your mountains so lofty,
Your treetops so tall.
Finland, Finland, Finland.
Finland has it all.

Finland, Finland, Finland,
The country where I quite want to be,
Your mountains so lofty,
Your treetops so tall.
Finland, Finland, Finland.
Finland has it all.

Finland has it all.

Heh... torrents are evil. I used one once, and got a notice
about my IP being used for illegal file transfers, and then
removed any torrent programs from my computer.

sounds like scaremongering bullshit to me.

what happened to the Great Revolt against mp3-sharing? that
kind of withered.

I wonder what will happen if a site gets busted that I have
used - do I fall under Dutch legislation? then I won't have
that much to fear.

up til now, at least..

the other day I went to a local music store, then to my
surprise there was a long line of people, mostly young girls
(I guess maybe about 300 or more), that day was the concert
of this finnish band The Rasmus... heck, for a moment I
thought "if they have this kind of power over the girls,
then fuck electronic music, I'm starting my own rock band!!"
then I came back to reality to pay for a cheap Orb
single I was buying.

oh yeah, about the torrents, I'm about to download "OHM- The
Gurus of Electronic Music" 3 cd's pack from OiNK

what about suprnova.org, could they really bust all the
people that uses those torrents??

i wonder if this coming generation will be able to grasp the
concept that stealing computer programs/files is still
stealing.

perhaps you can compare it to making copies of records on
tapes and giving them to your friends.

I guess noone saw that as stealing, so I guess they won't
see this as such either.

People wouldn't "steal" as much if the prices weren't so
over the fucking top in the first place. I don't mind paying
for things but a lot of music is overpriced.

ANALORD

offline epohs from )C: on 2004-12-23 09:17 [#01434917]
Points: 17620 Status: Lurker

imho, people would 'steal' even if records cost a penny...
but, they'd still purchase the albums they liked... just as
most people do today.

i'd say p2p does cut into the riaa's profits a bit.
probably not as much as they carry on, but i'm sure some
people steal the albums, and never purchase them, whereas
they probably would if p2p wasn't available.

however, i'd also say that the extra interest generated by
having so very much music so very easilly available probably
creates a good deal of additional proffit that the riaa
wouldn't see without p2p.

how it all balances out is anyone's guess.
