who has the worst job?

I work for the epitome of corporate america© 40hr weeks
for a bank that made 6billion in just profit alone, yet no
raises, no christmas bonus, no parties... I work around a
bunch of middleaged ignorant Bush supporters, fat gossip
cows with the average weight being 210lbs. We get 1hr lunch,
two 15min breaks. I shuffle papers and sit in front of a
computer all day and wonder why I still need legs at this
place considering my chair has wheels. On the other side of
my cubicle wall sits a printer thats smells of nasty heated
toner everytime someone uses it. Everyone hates me because I
speak my mind and they think my jokes are horribly
offensive. Apprently sarcasm and Jesus jokes are no longer
"in". Everyone is a backstabber and wont hesitate to talk
shit about you behind your back and yet I'm hated because
I'll say stuff to your face. Our entire department has been
demoted and all the while our bosses sugercoated the whole
fiasco so we wouldn't riot and string them up by their
nipples. For thanksgiving, instead of turkey we got a ball
of brown cotton with paper attached to it that resmbles a
fat round bird with downsyndrome because its googley eyes
look in different directions. There isn't ample parking for
the 200 employees that work here, so those who show up late
are forced to park across a busy street in a dirt lot. Those
who manage to arrive early will find themselves trying to
sqeeze in between 2 SUV's because the parking lines were
made too close together so you pray for aquiring an
automobile with a sunroof. Upper management gets bonus'
depending on how much money they save the company (read:
screw the grunt employees over). Every morning we have a 15
brainwashing session where we learn about "professionalism"
and "customer satisfaction", then play a stupid game in an
attempt to 'raise morale'...

Top that.

just today one of the uberbosses (earns 150.000 bucks a

can't top that, cuz i have a pretty great job with mostly
cool people, but your job could be so much worse.

worst jobs were corporate pet store (clearing out the dead
before the store opens, having to wear a tie, dealing with
villainous co-workers, customers, getting hassled about my
freakish hair, secretly giving human meds to puppies to
disguise their disease symptoms so people will buy them,
puppies dying because the pet store doesn't want to pay a
vet etc...most memorable event: a coworker poking through
another coworker's bag discovers envelopes full of
just-printed homemade hardcore pornography!)

auto parts warehouse (where most memorably i was forced to
listen to an oldies station all day...and a coworker
threatened to "cut me" with a razor blade box cutter with no
provocation)

telemarketer (not the root of all evil, but one of the main
branches...)

"Hey,

I worked at KFC 6 days a week for the last 2 months and a
bit. I still work there. I'm lobby scum.

The job is like this:

Clean tables,
Empty bins,
Sweep the floor,
Stop Ray the disabled guy from doing mad things,
Clean the toilets,
Clean the toilets more,
Scrub the fucking toilets even more,
Put my gloved hand down the toilet to unblock a shit,

There's other stuff to do, of course.

The pay is £4.20 an hour.

I'm 20 years old, and this is my first ever job.

Last week, after tax, my weekly pay was £240 and a bit.

66 hours and double pay bank holiday for teh win "

I work for the epitome of corporate america© 48hr/week for
a Security Firm at a four diamond hotel + a very famous
investment firm that should know better, that made billions
in just profit alone, yet no raises, no christmas bonus, no
parties, well at least for my group... I work around a bunch
of middleaged ignorant men, with law enforcement degrees,
who all used to be cops, or are still. We get 30min lunch
break but it never really lasts 20. I am busy from 7A - 7P,
and get bossed around all day long, NON STOP. On the
otherside of my cubicle sits the guy who would be sharing my
workload, but they fired him and retained me so i end up
doing twice as much. Everyone loves me because I have a
computer science degree and can help out when the get stuck,
I am the one who hates them. Everyone is a backstabber and
wont hesitate to talk
shit about you behind your back, and wont hesitate to stab
you in the back to get your job. Our entire department has
been been stripped of benefits, it costs 150/week for health
insurance, for a single! For thanksgiving, i had to work.
There isn't ample parking for
the 2000 employees that work here, so for those who are
late, you have to pay 25$ to park, instead of the 9$. Those
who manage to arrive early will find themselves at work,
without being paid. Upper management gets A LOT OF MONEY.
Every morning we have a reem out session were we are told we
are incompetent and cannot do anything right, moral is very
low.

Top that.

The pet store thing sounds truly depressing. That gets my
vote so far.

I've never had a truly bad job, but they've all been boring
and had their share of politics. It's really like high
school, once you delve into the officeplace subculture.
Gossip and vendettas and jealousy and espionage.

I've been lucky not to be involved with a prick boss or a
demented co-worker... yet.

past jobs:

age 13 - self employed lawn mower (with the loaning of my
father's lawnmower) - was pretty good. only did it one year
and had only 2 customers. one paid 20 and the other paid 15.
the guy that paid 15 was a bit of a douche. a third of his
backyard consisted of barely growing spots of grass where
twigs and rocks were present. to avoid this shooting at my
legs i didn't always cut them. he apparently watched me and
said something about this.

age 14 - mcdonalds in wal-mart - pretty crap but i wasn't
old enough to know - i worked part time during the summer
and school. gross working conditions, rude customers, and no
raise ever after 9 months. i quit. the only plus was i
worked with 3 of my friends.

age 15 - clover gardens nursey - pretty crappy - i somehow
managed to work friday through sunday and tuesday during
high school. very early hours on the weekend. shit bosses
who would never give us a break on work (i even worked one
day when it snowed outside) work consisted of sweeping the
store (inside and out) mowing the lawns and the lawn of the
person who lived behind the store (?????) mowing the lawns
always left me with a nosefull of dirt. i also loaded mulch,
soil, manuer, and plants onto customers trucks/cars. also,
the worst thing of them all, a twice a day hour long routine
of watering every plant in the yard. was fired sort of. only
plus was i worked with a good friend (one of the same at
mcdonalds) all but one day out of the week.

age 16 - cart pusher at shoprite - sucked ass - worked in
winter. cold, wet, worthless pointless job. besides it being
non stop work, it was a pointless job that lazy people could
easily source out. just put the carts away yourself.

age 17 - einsten bagels - made sandwiches, bagels, and
stuff. cleaned and closed store usually. this was an ok job.
my co-workers were cool for the most part, and some were
friends from school. hours were great, the store wasn't open
any later than 6 and i only worked part time. the only thing
that sucked was the boss was an a

*the boss was an ass

age 18 - teacher's assistant at community college (work
study program) - was ok for a while but then got unbearable
- worked and went to school. worked 18 hours a week for a
computer teacher. it started out good (long lunches, going
home early, i learned some things ) but then it got old. the
long lunches dissapeared and i often sat around doing
nothing. i didn't really get to learn much towards the end
because it was the same classes i would be sitting through
and the same material i would prepare for and such. the
worst part was the teacher i worked for. i think i was just
around him too much. his quirks, movements, little speeches,
everything he did started to drive me crazy. quit when the
school year was over (unfortunately i haven't been back to
school since)

current job - bank teller - started out pretty good but in
recent times it's been looking bad. all it's been is more
and more restrictions and more and more work since i
started.

well, ok then........

I currently work two jobs.

I work at a Christmas ornament store in the mall. I wear a
red apron, walk around helping people, and ring customers
up. They play Christmas music over and over. It pays $8 an
hour = alright, and it's nice to make some money after class
and on the weekends.

I also work as an intern for Gwen Mazer, Oprah Winfrey's
former image consultant, who currently is a professor of
fashion business at the Academy of Art in SF. She's writing
a book. She tapes her interviews, sends the tape to me, I
transcribe the audio into text, then I e-mail her the
document and meet her to return the master tape. The tapes
are 2 hours long; it takes approximately 4 hours of work to
transcribe an hour of recording. That job pays $18 an hour
= nice.

relay operator: my main responsibility is to make
telecommunication accessible to people who are deaf, hard of
hearing, speech disabled, nigerian scammers, or bored
college kids. i would say 30% of my shift at the relay
service is spent assisting people who legitimately use the
service to call the hearing, another 30 percent is doing my
best to trip up nigerian credit card frauds (damn near
impossible), and the remaining 40 percent goes to dorm tots
(ie saying things like "come all over my face" or "i want to
shit all over the operator" while some dumb fucking
cocksucker types to himself or his buddy across the hall).
don't worry, all you usa-ers are paying for this service (ip
relay - my company gets about $1.33 for every billable
minute...it sure adds up!) on every phone bill.

maybe i should write details of my job and it's greatness.

i work in a suburb fitness club.

on mondays, tuesdays and wednesdays i look after the
children of the club members. i basically watch videos and
draw castles and knights. sometimes i even get to play gba
with the kids. sometimes the kids cry, and then i hug them.
sometimes we play silly games, like 'the seamonster'. the
only crap thing about that is that the space is very
limited, which leads to injuries easily :)

on other days, basically on weekends (like right now) i work
at the reception of the club. i answer the phone, make sure
that people go to right places, sell nutrition and beverages
and listen to the problems/etc the clients have.

especially saturdays are quiet, so i get very bored and then
i just have to use internet :/

i was first a member on this club and now i work here, and i
love this place <3

i spent 4 months working for a moving company. no overtime.
had to get up at 4am every morning to get there, most days
last 8-14 hours, when i get back to the warehouse and the
busses stop running, i sleep in one of the trucks with a
bunch of pads. i made 8$ an hour for the first two month,
the last two i was making 11$.
pianos and sofa beds were my worst enemy. my back still
hurts to this day. top that.
