So I went and saw him in New York last night at the Bowery Ballroom. Took two buses, totaling round trip a massive 6 hours of riding time, not including waiting between the buses.
Walked from the Port Authority all the way to Bowery. So you know after all this waiting I was really happy to see him play. The only thing that sucked was he only played for a whopping 20 minutes.
He dressed up in a long hooded gown and a fake metal mask and had tape on his fingers to look all dark and things. While he played lights would flash occasionally and he would look up in suprise and fright. It was kind of odd, but interesting nonetheless.
Something to ease the 1 minutes music to 21 minutes travel ratio that was yesterday was I got some cds and a record. I got Mort Aux Vaches and this little gem. A release normally only came in parachute magazine. One of the tracks on there is based on source material from Random Inc's Jerusalem. I also got a Isis remix 12" w/ Venetian Snares and Fennesz on it (and some other group). Unfortunately the 12" w/ Hecker's remix was sold out.
The music Tim played was what I imagined as the Isis remix to open, and then a couple tracks off of Mirages. It was a lot noisy-er than his recorded stuff. He kind of did the effects and things live. It was very good, albeit short.
I really think I may have been the only person there so see him. There were about 25 other people there to watch his set, and you could some talking like 'what the fuck?' during some quiet parts. A couple people walked away. I managed to get some pictures but only a few because I thought he'd be longer. Once I get the film developed and put on a cd I'll post 'em here.

Well after Tim's set people starting pouring in for Isis and These Arms are Snakes. I left right after Tim because I had to catch a bus back home. It looked as though it might have sold out, there was a big line waiting outside as I left.

i don't know either of those two, but i'd surely arrange something to stay there for the whole show...to spend that much time on 20 minutes would make me real unhappy. good to hear you at least got nice albums though :)

no, not really... isis sounds more like neurosis with the tone knob turned all the way down. i don't really like them - they're kind of boring to me. basically, they play sludgey metal...

Isis is the sludge-iest of all sludgey metal bands.
