hmm, I made a topic called "Kate Bush" long, long ago, but
the search only runs over 2004, so I can't find that one -
better make a new one.

I have always had a soft spot for Kate Bush and especially
her music - in fact, the very first album I ever bought (on
the antiquated medium the cassette tape, mind you) was "the
sensual world".

years later I bought "hounds of love/the ninth wave",
probably her best work.

slowly now I'm buying all of her older albums and she surely
doesn't disappoint. she really has her very own voice, both
lyrically and musically. it always kind of surprises me when
someone who is as acclaimed as she is, also actually IS any
good. and oh my, she IS, verily.

she is one of those artists that is used when
comparing others.

for example, Tori Amos owes her life to Kate Bush.

In some ways she's like a proto-Bjork - highly
individualistic, conceptual and with the wild vocals and
such.

"hounds of love" is a good startingpoint, I think.

some great popsongs, some experimentation.

I have a couple of her albums, but I really like "The Red
Shoes" which I know not everyone's keen on, but it's got
such a unique atmos' that I've never heard anywhere else.
This is one Bush I am happy to support endorse.

still have to hear that one.

I ordered "the dreaming" two days ago.

currently it's all about "never for ever", with "army
dreamers" on repeat.

Army Dreamers, very good. I was just thinking that, well I
know it's obvoius, but I generally don't like prog music, I
like the idea but never the wanky execution, but I think she
carries it off, being a woman and possibly less
wank-o-centric.. I think I better wait til I wake up before
trying to write..

unassuming and it has Wuthering Heights.

me neither. in fact, her voice and manner of singing holds
all the ingredients that would normally annoy me, but
somehow, it has quite the opposite effect.

in some cases her music borders on wankerish territory, but
she almost always seems to veer away just in time.

A new 'chutist had just jumped from the plane at 10,000
feet, and soon
discovered that all his lines were hopelessly tangled. At
about 5,000 feet,
still struggling, he noticed someone coming up from the
ground at about the
same speed as he was going towards the ground. As they
passed each other at
3,000 feet, the 'chutist yells, "HEY! DO YOU KNOW ANYTHING
ABOUT PARACHUTES?"
The reply came, fading towards the end, "NO! DO YOU KNOW
ANYTHING
ABOUT COLEMAN STOVES?"

it was inevitable with someone who danced around half-naked,
used a publicity poster where you could see her nipples
through her top and sung lyrics like:

"Outside
Gets inside
Through her skin.
I've been out before
But this time it's much safer in."

and

"Breathing,
("Out, in, out, in, out...")
Breathing,
Breathing my mother in,
Breathing my beloved in,
Breathing,
Breathing her nicotine,
Breathing,
Breathing the fall-out in,
Out in, out in, out in, out in,
Out in, out in, out in, out...
("Out!")"

KATE BUSH is awesome... It's strange... When i saw the
thread... i was listening to the "Hounds of love" album....
:)
she's definnetly one of the best female artists ever....
"Hounds of love" and "The sensual world"... Two classics...
And her duo with Peter Gabriel is also top notch....
Lovely lady.... And very good looking on top of that.

New Kate Bush album out soon!

From Peter Gabriel:

"Kate had a son and lost her mom and I think that kept her
(occupied)," said Gabriel. "I spoke to her quite recently in
fact and she's just about finished on a new record. It is
exciting. She's being a mom and loving it. So, if you like,
music's gone from being full-time to being part-time, so
that slows you down. She pointed out (she takes) even longer
than I take," joked Gabriel.

"Stuart Elliott, Kate's drummer, was interviewed at a
session in a church on the BBC programme Songs Of Praise. He
said that he has been busy recording drums on Kate's new
album and that recording on the album had just finished"

there are rumours that the release date for the album is
March 14th.
