yes, despite my previous gloroius opinions about it, it
pisses me of. every 1-2 days i loose all my bookmarks, my
passwords, even start page and download settings.

dunno why coz i deleted "default"account from accounts
folder, and theres only mine. but still somehow firefox
looses all the things. im bored with setting this shit up
every day. i will change this shit , i just need to think
what should io choose coz old explorer is even more
shitty.

help ?

i'd be willing to bet you've got some sort of wackiness
going on with your filesystem.

firefox is the bombshack, but it's still not mature enough
to be able to deal with people having their documents and
settings folder moved around all over the place and changing
drive paths, and uninstalling & reinstalling in different
places, and stuff like that.

i'll bet your registry is a friggin' mess.

or, i could just be an asshole moz zealot who has no idea
what he's talking about.

Do you know how many Firefox threads you've started? The
answer is; some. This is my TIP, with regards losing
bookmarks, as I had the same problem.

To get the Profile manager use the command line and stick
in

“C:\Program Files\path\to\firefox\firefox.exe” -p

(obviously whatever your actual path is)

which brings up the Profile Manager, I deleted the default
profile and made a new one, WALLOP, favourites worked
again,
though I had to import again, but make sure Firefox isn't
running at the time.

i really don't know. there's a whole lot of things that it
could be.

I just remember you mentioning that you don't have the
profile in the standard place. I wasn't aware that you
could change the profile directory... so, that's the first
thing i'd suspect.

profile directory should be in:
\Docs and Settings\[usrnm]\Application
Data\Mozilla\Profiles

Corrupted profiles are the most common type of problem...
but, usually they are very easy to fix. just backup
bookmarks, close firefox, delete the profile folder, and
restart firefox.

but, if the profile directory has been changed, i don't know
what kind of problems it'd cause.

plus, you said you'd changed drive paths and letters around.
i'm not sure if that could've affected anything or not.

uninstalling firefox doesn't remove the profile directory.

so, if it's corrupt, uninstalling and reinstalling probably
won't fix anything.

the directory has to either be manually removed (like i
said), or removed dog_belch's way.

i don't use bookmarks much i just have my default page open
with like 12 tabs of stuff i always look at which is why i
agree with epohs and his 'bombshack' comment!

i never really used bookmarks too much until i got used to
using them in firefox.

i can't get over how much smart keywords changed the way i
surf. i love 'em so much.

they allow me to just type in [ gs porno ] to do a google
search on "porno", or [ dict existentialism ] to look up
"existentialism" on m-w.com... or anything like that.

you can also just asign keywords to bookmarks, so that
typing [ xlt ] takes you to xltronic, etc...

they just rule totally.

yeah, but you can do it for any website that allows search
criteria in the URL.

for instance [ xlt snares ] could search xltronic for
"snares"... or anything you wanted to search for.

deleting the profile will cause you to lose
everything. all your shit is stored in there.

but, manually deleting it will force firefox to create a
fresh new one. one that's not corrupted.

i'd say uninstall firefox... delete the entire 'Mozilla'
directory in your \docs&settin's\app data\ folder... (and if
you know how to fiddle with the registry, search for
anything mozilla related and remove it... but, if you're not
familliar with this don't touch the registry)

then reinstall.

if that doesn't work, then i'm completely out of ideas.

I've been running it for about 18 months, and i've never had
a problem. Also, i probably don't use all the features, and
i sure-as-god don't know shit about its' murky inner
workings. So basically, i like firefox a lot but i can't
help you at all.

Sorry.

Is your ver. of Windows pirated?
All updates applied?
Latest drivers?
Properly configured (ie. no bad marks in device manager?)
Scanned for spyware / viruses?

I'd suggest re-downloading Firefox...

so, in summary, firefox is:
"the bombshack"
"best browser ever"
"the shit"
"good"
"the business"

and has elements that:
"rule"
"work[s] perfectly"
are "tasty"
"never (has) a problem"

and if someone has a problem with it, it renders epohs
"completely out of ideas."

in case anyone is just tuning in!

I bet eleventy million dollars that Hyakusen's PC is running
Bonzi Buddy and his Internet Explorer has thirty different
spyware toolbars and his system tray extends all the way to
his start button.
