listen to the kraftwerk - ralf & florian record

especially the track Tongebirge. hmm hear the BoC
similarities?

this record came out in 1973.

i love boc, but just wanted to point it out, since people
are saying that their sound is truly original. it isn't
entirely, i bet early kraftwerk had some influence on them.

geogaddi samples the shit out of the hangman's beautiful
daughter, in a couple of places... but i hear more ISB
influence in some of the old tunes stuff.

I don't think anyone says BOC's sound is entirely original,
just that they, through their influences and own input,
created their own sound, exceeding the sum of its parts.

Kraftwerk is not an influence on anything. It all goes back
to Joplin. She influenced the whole genre of IDM. I mean
cmon!!!

Bobby McGee is so IDM its crazy!! CRAZY I SAY!!

europe express...

not that i think any less of boc...

wouldn't exactly put it like that. it depends a lot on
circumstances, location and culture wether things are
original or not.

[15] [34:22] [fleetmouse] - infants of almond and pearl

This is just classy! I see the Pink Panther all disoriented
on acid and booze and he is trying to investigate a crime.
His search turns up nothing because he consistantly searches
the same two rooms.

But everytime he enters that room it seems new. Everytime he
opens a draw that has been opened before it is new. It is an
endless cycle.

It continues for the next 8 hours until police find him
passed out at the scene of the crime. He is later arrested.
As it turns out, he was the one that actually committed the
crime. Without knowing/remembering this (due to the acid
binge) he forgets and trys to solve the crime that occured
during his frenzied state.

A+

no person really absolutely creates, we're just all
"remixing" (i think Amon Tobin said something like that,
using samples is somewhat comparable to using an instrument
since we're also distorting/remixing the sound of the
instrument which isn't originally ours)... but still, it is
creating. no one really creates nothing at all
either.

offline uzim on 2004-12-01 13:54 [#01412057]

but anyway, BoC is very far from being the most original
(nor interesting, nor "fresh", nor bad, nor good) band i
ever heard.
