cliqhop is okay, but it'd be great to have some more IDM stations. I think cliqhop just runs through a random playlist of songs; what would be cooler is actually having somebody actually making decent playlists live, etc. What would be even cooler is to have it as a proper radio show, hosted by popular xltronic members. Not sure how many of you here have played with shoutcast, but it's quite easy and anybody can be a DJ. The server runs special software which pretty much runs 24/7, and it's passworded; to DJ, you download a plugin for your favourite media player, point it to the right place and enter the right password, and you just play what you want, or talk into your microphone. Anybody else here think this would be a great idea? Who here would like to DJ given it could work? |

If people here really are interested, give an indication of whether you'd be willing to DJ. Can this server that xltronic lives on cope with a shoutcast server? I can probably offer a streaming 'relay'/mirror so some of the load is taken off. |

Listeners tap into your bandwidth to grab a stream. You give out your ip address and switch off your firewall so it probably leaves you wide open to hacks. |

I think its better running through a secure server, thats what most of the big stations do. Im fairly computer illiterate, I just know that the last time I used it my machine got F'd in the A. I have moved on to using real producer. |

it might take you a while to set up. you need winamp vs. 2-3. Goto for some tools to help you figure out bandwidth limitations / your current IP etc. Im off out for a few hours but I will help you setup when I get back if you haven't figured it by then :) |

haha, that's an internal network address hyakusen. we can't get to it :) the idea is somebody runs a shoutcast server on the net, and you configure your streamcast client (inside winamp?) to stream to it. what's your email address? i might setup something on my server, at least temporarily to see what the bandwidth is like. i'll email you the IP and password. |

I might host a mix on my site, made up of all tracks submitted on xlt each month. I don't know how much bandwidth my isp allows, but it has to be more than a shoutcast server me thinks. Verdict: Shit idea? |

You could always splice some stuff together using your computer, or submit a track/artwork (for the stream window). The more people who get involved in this the better. |
