I know this is kind of mainstream but i've been listening
to her solo album and actually quite good. I rarely delve
into current pop music as most is pretty dreadful but
occassionally there is something decent. Anyone else hear
heard it yet?

I've only heard the single so far

How would you discribe the tone of the rest of the album
compared to the single and no doubt's stuff?

nah, i've only only caught her single on mtv, and i'm not
feelin' it. she's a qt 3.14 ((c) elusive), and a nice voice.
i like some no doubt tracks tho, like hella good, which is..
erm, good.

i don't know much of no doubts music but i don't think her
solo album is at all like the no doubt stuff.

Its very eclectic, some of it is like early madona, new
order, leila, r&b even idm at times, its quite a mix of
styles. I'm liking it at the moment, i'm hoping it's not
like most pop albums where it gets boring quickly, i don't
think it will.

god she wears the most awful clothes.

and her voice sounds like someone letting air out of a
balloon.

but I must confess I actually quite like "what you waiting
for".

on the other hand, she has also sung the absolutely dreadful
"don't speak" for which she deserves to be exploded.

true, it was originaly sent to the neptunes to produce and
they said they couldn't/didn't want to do it so they got
some copycats in to do it. Nice Pop though. sell outs!

Unlike most pop this album isn't getting boring quickly...
i'm actually liking it more, the more I listen to it.

JivverDicker: the Neptunes have produced one track,
Hollandback Girl, one of the best tracks on the album.

New Order have also produced a track but its not really up
to much really...

This is fucked up.
I just woke up this morning from a dream where I was in a
studio with her recording backup vocals. I wake up and this
thread is at the top of the list.

Things that make you go "hmmmm"

cheap, worthless and annoying songs released this year. "What
you waiting for" fares little better entering the top10. So
no thanks really.

I quite like her. She is fit, and she makes a lot of effort
to innovate I reckon. The production on the album is at
least interesting, unlike the rest of pop... my sister's got
it so I've heard a couple of trax. I wouldn't go out my way
but she's not bad.
