I always thought it was like "rose" only a bit more
guttural. "Roesz" maybe.

I remember john peel trying to pronounce "svefn-g-englar" on
the radio once. It sounded like a small icelandic toad had
crawled into his throat and was trying frantically to get
out. Ah, mr peel. God bless your cotton socks.

yeah but 'aouwteker' does not make it any more clear. like
how the fuck do you pronounce 'aouw'?

It is definitievely:
1. AU = "AW" as in australia, austria
2. TECH = "TEK" as in technology
3. RE = "ER" as in rapper, or wanker

that guy in the sound sample seperates the Sigur and the
Rós, there's a short break inbetween.

usually people say it like one word, Sigurós.

It's "O" with an umlaut over it, thus changing the sound to
something a bit like "er". Not that it really matters, we're
never going to meet her and commit a terrible pronunciation
faux-pas.

Anyway, mtv pronounce "pavement" as "sidewalk", the cretins.
