when is IDM starting to be minimal techno?
i know this is a stupid question.

but is stuff like yoshihiro hanno, jan jelinek etc.. minimal

because the word 'techno' is frightning

as far as i know jeff mills and hawtin are supposed to be
minimal techno.
hanno and jelinek most definitely aren't.

ok, cheers.

i feel like an ass for asking really. but all those
genre-defining terms are confusing sometimes; different
reviewers give totally different comments etc...

i kinda know what you mean, although you shouldn't put too
much attention on what you read. and certanly not orient on
genres. there's plenty of awesome techno music outhere. and
jelinek and hanno are both awesome as well!

i prefer the reviews where they compare stuff with artists i
know...genres don't tell you anything.
