Yeh i got it when it was released on CD AND vinyl.

Straight away i loved 1 or 2 tracks but never got into it as
a full album.

However, when i hear any of the tracks in a mix, either
downloaded from an XLTer or something i mix myself or at a
gig or even on channel 4 advertisement.... i fooking love
em.

Druqks for me is a colection of quality tracks thst work
best outside the album.

anyone else feel the same? Have you found the songs work
best in a different setting?

i haven't listened to it in a very long time...it's still my
favourite album though - it's probably the reason why i love
to hear its tunes in mixes, live sets..
but it works great as a whole for me as well, i can listen
to it the whole way through and enjoy the whole thing..

I had exactly the same experience. Individually I like
pretty much all of the tracks, as an album it's wank though.
I can't even sequence the tracks in an order I like...just
individually and it's better when I'm not expecting them.

Never listened to it as a whole...but I think that druqs has
some of the best AFX tracks ever released...

I agree it's an uncomfortable album to listen to as a whole,
it just doesn't flow at all. I could listen to an album of
the ambient or of the piano pieces, but listen through a
"drill" album? I don't think such a thing is endurable. I
think the, for want of a better term, "drill" tracks (which
I know aren't drill at all) are so rich (Rich) in content,
so effortlessly combining different themes and structures,
that you can only take them one at a time, to really
appreciate them. I am still hearing new things in it, but,
as people say above, mainly by listening to tracks
individually.

but listen through a
"drill" album?

songs about my cats by snares is pretty hard work to listen
to all the way through

Some genres, especially in the broadly termed "dance"
domain, just don't make for good albums.

with large speakers pls.

I consider this album a classic.

And I wouldn't even talk about the flow. It is intentional.
The tracks are so varied it would be impossible to maintain
any kind of coherence anyway.

And Ziggomatic v17 is a personal reminder to me of why life
is so incomprehensibly great that I have to take a moment to
regather myself slightly.

i've had the pleasure to experience that, it sounded pretty
damn awesome, especially when it breaks down for the first
time with the melody and bass. "Doom, doom doom, doomdoom
doom" oh yeah

Drukqs is the most complete album that I heard, that works
like my mood changes, the cd 1 is amazing and the cd 2 have
great tracks (like Ziggomatic, one of my favorites).
I really enjoy the piano tracks (Kesson Dalef),when I am in
a calm mood or half sad but when I put omgyjya-switch or
vordhosbn on,everything starts to get better.

(gorgeous synths and great beats)

i love druqs.
it was the second aphex album i bought. i remember putting
it in and being like "what in the holy fuck is this??" i
liked the piano pieces right away, but i had to force myself
to listen to the whole thing for awhile. then it just grows
on you.
out of all his albums it's still probably my least favorite
though. i don't think it has as much feeling as everything
else.
