I just saw this film yesterday and I was completey blown
away by it. I'm not even sure why I liked it so much, but I
was just sitting there watching it and having the best
fucking time. That girl is hot. Also, when I was like 4 or 5
I actually had an encounter with a 7 foot anthropomorphic
rabbit in my house. I later "rationally" concluded that it
had to be a dream, but now I'm not so sure...

i always hear people raving about this movie, but it looks
so dumb...what's the deal? what's it about? why is it so
popular?

Ah, you hit it fucking perfectly. That's what I said for
the past 3 years or so; I figured it probably wasn't that
good. I rented it on a whim just to see what the hype was
about and I had basically no expectations ( i.e. "this will
be the greatest film ever" or some shit), but I ended up
just loving it. Just have to watch it and come to your own
conclusion, as stupid as that sounds. I found it both creepy
and hilarious. But like I said, I associate with 7 foot
rabbits in the middle of the night.

it's not nearly as deep as it's hyped up to be. but, it is a
very good movie, with a superbly pulled off 80s theme and a
nice sub-plot.

it is enjoyable as a shallow era piece, and if you delve a
little bit into the plot of a kid coming to terms with the
fact that everyone dies alone, and that he's got to
sacrifice himself to save the universe and the people he
cares about, it still holds together rather well.

it's a good movie. and the website is excellent.

I made no allusions to it's deepness.

i'm not saying you did. but, it does get hyped up to be a
metaphysical masterpiece that i don't believe it is.

what it is, is a very good movie that's enjoyable on several
different levels.

it sets a mood, and creates a story that works very well
within that mood.

my two cents: avoid the director's cut, which changes some
music cues, adds scenes that were originally deleted (with
good reasons) and tries to clarify the confusing "tear in
the fabric of the universe" dilemma with cheesy matrix
graphics. this cut might be slightly less ambiguous than
the original version, but under scrutiny the sequence of
events does not make sense.

suffice to say, though, that the sequence of events is too
complicated and detailed to describe here.

the original leaves more open to interpretation thereby
better concealing the film's flaws. it is an intriguing,
unique and absorbing movie...

A very good movie...

Even if its deepness is overhyped it still flies pretty high
when compared to the shallowness of the average movie
production...

And if you consider that while being rather clever it never
ends up being tedious you know why it has become a cult
movie.

This is how the average movie should be. But the majority
of movies are shit, so it is quite good in comparison.
Which is why I give it a C+ 7.5/10

I havn't seen the directors cut yet.

On a scale of fear and love I would have to put it in love

I thought it was excellent. Interesting characters and
goings on.

"how does one suck a fuck exactly?"

hahah!
