read this news on darkhorizons today. pretty exciting, even
though raimi is only producing. hope they find a good
director :)

i expect alot of gore and bruce campell kicking some demon
ass!

I just hope they don't fuck it up. The originals were so
fucking great. I'm praying they don't go down the CGI route.

yeah, i hope they truely 'reinvent' it because otherwise,
whats the point? i don't see any need to try to make a
better movie, how about just a new Evil Dead that perhaps
pays homage but doesn't try to 1-up the original.

Did you see Campbell in Spiderman 2? He's got alot of
workout to do if he wants to get in shape for that role,
though I didn't read anywhere that Campbell is actually
gonna star in it.

For the record:

I share my birthday with Bruce Campbell.

yeh i doubt he'll be in it. it looks like he'll just be
producing along with Rami.

Perhaps a cameo then, as Raimi seems to have a thing for
that.

and hopefully they don't cast some younger jack ass trying
to do a BC impression. I'd rather they just cast somebody
with a new view of the Ash character rather than some
sub-par knock off.

Evil Dead already had a remake... it's called Evil Dead
2.... and rest assured that this movie will suck complete
ass... don't even hope...

Even Bruce Campbell himself would be a sub-par knock off if
he reprised his role in the remake. It just wouldn't feel
the same.

This is good news. The only person who can play ash is bruce
campbell, and I have no doubt that it will be perfect. You
really can do no wrong with a movie that did everything
wrong and still became a classic.

There is also talk of an Ash Vs Freddy Vs Jason movie being
made.

it might suck ass. but it is waaaay to early to know that
for sure. at least the right people are currently involved
in the project!

you can't really say that until you also know who is writing
it, directing it and is starring in it.

you can't say that it will be ass until you know the same
things, ofcourse.

but it does sound very, very tiring. rehashing classics.

this is Justin Theroux the name being "kicked around" for
the part of Ash.

I don't have an opinion of this guy other than to say
Charlie's Angels: full throttle was pretty crap, not
necessarily because of him as i can't remember him in it!

offline DeadEight from vancouver (Canada) on 2004-11-19 18:39 [#01400378]

i think he was actually the best part of that movie... he
was the crazy irish guy if i'm not mistaken... (he was also
the director in Mulholland Drive)

Justin Theroux played Adam Kesher in "Mullholland Drive"

the directer who's lady cheats on him with the achy breaky
mullet.

i guess he was kinda funny in that roll...!

sceptical to say the least.

it probably worked so well because it wasn't very
self-conscious at the time.

then again, I thought "army of darkness" was a great film
too, so I guess it can be done.

"I think Sam was really the one who said, 'Gee, I would
love to give a new filmmaker an opportunity to use that
title and use their skills to retell this in a new way for a
new audience.' I talk to Bruce Campbell every other day, and
he says, 'You should see the message boards and all of the
stuff I get saying "Please don't do it!"' So we're certainly
going to have to tread carefully."

I think a new filmmaker should use his/her skills to make up
their own story.

nice interview with Campbell on that site.

"What are your thoughts on the current rush in
Hollywood for doing remakes of old films? (Dawn of the Dead,
The Grudge, etc) have you been approached to be in any
classic remakes?

Honestly, I'm always gonna be more bored by any re-make. I
prefer original stuff."

"There are a lot of Maniac Cop fans on our website;
any chance of seeing a remake of this movie with YOU in
it?

What is with the re-make fever? I can pretty much guarantee
that there is absolutely no chance of that."

Thanks for fixing my noobish link. I would still really like
to see the evil dead series to continue from the edited(?)
ending where Ash tells his tall tales in that supermarket
and the witch comes in on him. I actually preferred that
open ending to the one where he misses his timezone and ends
up in some post apocalyptic era. I'm also no fan of remakes,
though I did enjoy the dawn of the dead remake. The grudge
remake was hopeless.
