Howard Stern - while inconsistent - is still the most
entertaining thing to listen to in the morning. His
irreverance is inspirational.

he's also making me a lot of money right now. and he's a
free speech martyr in a time when everyone is scared into
playing by reasonless arbitrary rules

Heh... this is a great society we live in. The only people
who seem to remind everyone about what democracy is supposed
to be does it by smooth-talking lesbians out of their
clothes and farting into microphones.

Yes, he is exactly what we need in this time of rampant
christian fundamentalism.

No, I'm pretty sure the radio show is unavailable in
streaming format. There are some dudes who record it
everyday and then post it to torrent sites though.

I'm listening to the November 8th show right now and it's so
good. Who else can talk about nothing and be humorous for 4
hours every day.

Howard Stern rules.

I've seen him in the city a couple times, he's abot 6'5 i'd
say? Pretty damn tall. I happen to like him, he's an
intelligent person if you get passed the fart and boob
jokes.

umm.. yeah where he'll be unbound by rediculous censorship
laws and corporate advertising. by 2006, the subscription
costs will drop considerably, by the way.. common sense

offline Amnesiac from ERIE (United States) on 2004-11-18 19:30 [#01399535]
Points: 2084 Status: Lurker

i'm trying to say that it's fucking dumb!! why does he have
so many fans, if you're going to be an advocate for free
speech you should have something to say.

offline JivverDicker from my house on 2004-11-18 19:34 [#01399541]
Points: 12102 Status: Regular

It's low denominater stuff. If I said 'Let's throw stones
at black people' I'd have COMPLETE loyalty from certain
people. If I said 'TITS should be shared' I'd get more
loyalty. It's a silly game that can be funny if you see it
that way.

I totally disagree. The whole point of free speech is that
you should be able to say whatever you want.

It's okay.. You're not silly because you don't understand.

offline theo himself from +- on 2004-11-18 20:07 [#01399567]

you don't seem to understand that people are entertained by
it and he is being mischevious when really there's nothing
'naughty' or 'taboo' about breasts, masturbation and all
that.. only america has this completely ignorant, infantile
regard for sex. it's not to be discussed. that's why
anything related to the body and its natural functions are
the only things that are off limits.. violence, drugs, are
whatever.. but anything sexual or anatomic.. nonononono.
it's rediculous, and that's what he's playing on. ie use of
preadolescent circumlocution to avoid censorship , and
dealing with the most vulgar or honest (that's what I like
about him.. he's completely open on air) content shoved
right in the face of those who are holding the entire
society back from actually discussing these things. he is
like a child that runs aroudn screaming because some elders
told him to shut up and sit still for no reason satisfactory
to him

offline theo himself from +- on 2004-11-18 20:11 [#01399570]

racial things too.. like the clinton years left a few social
and ethnic landmines in the lexicon employed in day-to-day
speech.. and it has gotten to the point where people feel
that just acknowledging someone's race is racist.. and
people go out of their way to avoid, or patronize and
co-opt.. and it's just rediculously dishonest and ignorant.

the american attitude seems to favor the IDEA of american
'decency' (whatever that is..) rather than honest, real
human NATURE.. we're a few millenia behind europe in that
respect

I saw him, he made a good case, a very good one. He almost
sold me one... 120 channels, eh? Music stations for most
every genre, eh? 150 bucks? 40 cents a day? I'm in, maybe.

I don't often listen to him... I can't. But I download his
interviews sometimes, and he's very entertaining. I love his
spiel with Zappa.
