lost coast was a fucking joke... I'm glad I waited 8 months
for a 5 minute tech demo, when the technology being demoed
had already been released in Day of Defeat Source (which is
awesome, but complete shit compared to non source DoD).

besides being 5 minutes long, lost coast had some kind of
fucked up AI error that resulted in all the enemies turning
into non-moving, non-hittable scarecrows every time I loaded
a save game. So I had to beat the demo with no saves, but
that wasn't difficult because it was only 10 minutes long,
TOPS.

I agree that this "technology demo" was pretty pointless.
It was short, and didnt really stun me graphically (i've
seen much nicer stuff in quake 4). The bugs with the
scarecrows that were mentioned were annoying. I can't
believe how much they hyped this.

well that was relatively fun, if rather choppy, even at
800x600. :P i wish i never sold my 6800, hot as it was.

i can imagine the cathedral looks stunny in hi-res/4xAA

i passed a soldier standing still on the cliffside, on the
way down in the basket thing. tried to shoot him as i
passed, but he just stood there.

haha i've been using dreamweaver too much today. i just
pressed ctrl+s instead of hitting the reply button. doh...

yep it's that annoying scarecrow bug... as far as I can tell
it occurs everytime you load a savegame.

I run it on a radeon x800, and have the graphics literally
all the way up. It runs quite smoothly, apart from a bit of
sluggishness for like 15 seconds at the beginning of the
level while my system caches everything, and then it runs
like a dream. :)
