thats an understatement. my entire family is southern baptist. they are all racist. they all love their government and think that it has truly been ordained by gods will, and that it is good. this is the predominant attitude of most people i know, and i can only speak for those people that i do know. there is some solace found in being a philosophy major at university, because reasonable people are there, but only to a certain extent. for example, last night i had the daily "homosexuality is a sin, those people are dirty, actually they aren't even fully people" discussions with my mom and her husband. so yea, tennessee isn't being nice right now. but that's another generalization in itself, cause there are also some loving people here. :) |
