if ever I would fight in a war, it would be because more people would die if I didn't AND if I believed in the war. for me to believe in a war would take a lot of trouble though - war is complete and utter chaos and one of the worst things that can happen in anyone's life. I would not fight "for my country" - this means nothing to me, just another abstract concept. |

i don't really care to rehash this argument, but i've read that as many as 50,000 people were starving to death every year, as a direct result of the UN sanctions on iraq. most of them women and childred. multiply that by 12 years and you get a farily sizable number of purely innocent people being killed, by the world's collective decision not to take action against saddam. |
