what does it mean when the nominal output level for the headphone-output on my mixer is noted as "58 mW MAX (@ 47 ohm)"?
I'm planning on getting sennheiser hd580 (300 ohm), and I don't know if the mixer (vestax pmc05 proIII) will drive them correctly...

compare data to be sure, but usually headphones output jack are standarized so it should work ok

yeah, but i've heard that these phones sound really bad when unamped or underpowered... however, since it is a mixer, I'd guess it already had quite a bit of power, but.. you never know...
the thing is.. on another page in the manual it says "input any headset with 8-600 ohm impedance," but I think.. since it is such a wide range, it's just "this mixer CAN get sound from sets within this range, but it'll mostly suck above [so-and-so]"
