ive been listening to these wonderful pieces quite a bit
the past few weeks

i wish that my ep had the hidden track on it, even though
its nothing "special" to say, i still wanted it

and LP5 is a goodie

Both of these are great. Isnt the hidden track found by
rewinding track one into the negitives? I wonder how you
would go about doing that? (making that)

its not on the american version/re-released version or
something ?

you just would code it in, call it track 1, then track 1
might be 1a (just a guess)

kinda like how they put hidden tracks at the end of cds, but
the opposite way

ima hellicopter (picture on home computer)

Seriously "rae" is excellent. Ofcourse fold4wrap5 ties rae
as my favorite on that release. I have never seen the cover.
I only own draft 7.30. And the only other autechre i have
heard besides these are confield.

Which (not to go off topic) is my favorite release. Confield
was way ahead of its time and still begs to be topped.

well with a hidden track and the end of a cd i could just
write a song and insert a couple of minutes of blank silence
and then another track all onto one track.

I havent been able to think of a possible way to do that in
reverse. Hopefully someone reads this and enlightens me

i bought ep7 when it came out, but didn't know about the
hidden track until some guy said it here. that was less than
a year ago! a shame that it's only a dsp hi-frequency
wanking type of track. in fact it sounds like it might have
been done with metasynth, maybe there are some nice pictures
of booth/brown hidden somewhere.

anywho, lp5+ep7=yay!

that much though. i bought it this april for like 7 $ or
something, it was cheap nontheless.

Both very very very Awesome ... But i have a tiny
preference toward LP5.... allthough it's too close to notice
actually...... Autechre are the kings of kings in the
departement.... I hope that they release something new
quickly....

and the last track, whatever it's called (not talking about
the 'secret' track)

not every CD player can access it... my home CD player
can't, my portable CD player can. iTunes can't access it
either.

LP5 has good tracks but curiously i find the individual
tracks better than the album as a whole (and i really
dislike the transition between acroyear2 and 777 for
example, when it tries to go berserk without reason - the
"hidden track" is pointless too).

ep7 is very dispensible unless you really are an Autechre
fan in my opinion, if i should sell/throw/give some CDs away
off my collection this one would be in the first ones... it
was my first Autechre CD, maybe it wasn't the wisest choice
: )

got it off the ol' ebay. the seller was a bit chuffed when
the price didn't reach the sky. he told me to take good care
of it, and that is what i do.

(well anyway, if you're not an Autechre fan, i doubt you'd
"need" more than one of their releases... or two if you want
both their early style and their late style ' _ -)

if you get ep7 you don't really have any other option than
beeing a fan. it's incredibly impressive. and there are very
accessible tracks on it (dropp, pir). maphive 6.1 is massive
(sorry). huge record.

so, i did a spectrum analysis to verify if there are any
hidden images in the secret ep7 track.

1. i found something that resembles a funny man

3. this show that atleast some image -> sound processing was
used. note how sharp the edge is

the way they process sound is quite often likely to draw
stuff in spectrum analysis, whether they intend to do it or
not.

yeah. i just wanted to have a look at how it would look like
through the spectrum analysis, as it sounds like some
metasynth stuff.
it's not as distinguishable as the aphex and vSnares tracks
though, but the man looks funny though.

no, i disagree : )
not everyone has the same taste.

i totally believe you if you say it sounds huge to you, but
it won't to everybody. for most people, Autechre would be
more of a curiosity i guess... (or unlistenable, or boring,
or "interesting") - there was a topic on another
messageboard i frequent, about the artists "everyone says
they're geniuses but you just don't get it", or "artists you
"should" like but don't" - and Autechre was by far the name
that came the more often.

i like them, i used to like them a lot, now i barely listen
to them anymore even if i still find them enjoyable from
time to time (more like once in a blue moon), but i've never
been a *fan*.

it's an os x app that's called Frequency. you can analyze
and do some other stuff like "paint" something over the
audio.

That funny man-shape reminds me a bit of the Arecibo
message, a binary radio signal with an embedded
picture that nasa beamed into space in the 70s. It
could be just me reading too much into things, but the
"decodable image" of a man hidden inside a signal makes me
think they were at least thinking along those lines. Maybe.

Also: I really like EP7 a lot.

i like autechre but i'm kinda with uzim. i really don't like
draft for example. sure, it might be well built up with nice
textures and complexity but it just doesn't sound good to
me. this isn't a programming competition to me, i like music
that sounds good. just that plain and simple. some autechre
songs do, some don't. i'm not one of those who didn't "get"
it. pen expers, for example, would sound fucked to a lot of
people but to me it's brilliant.

when i first got lp5 (way back in 2002), i listened for it
everytime i got in my car, or on my head phones, or on my
stereo, for about a month, i started to get into the music
and it really took me somewhere else, i really enjoyed that.
about a month after that i got ep7 - it kind of freaked me
out at first, but i gave it the benefit of the doubt, and i
ended up really liking it as a whole. although you can
really tell it is not one of there lp's, even though its of
the same length. but i noticed after these two, that their
music really took me to a different planet, put me in a
different mood and setting, i really started to enjoy
autechre after getting these two realeases.
