Do you ever find that all music just sounds uninspiring? Or I am going mad?
I've tried lots of styles, from the most way out shit to pop and nothing excites me anymore. I don't enjoy music like I used to, and it's scary.
Maybe if I don't listen to anything for a week and then come back to it, it'll be nice and orgasmic again.

Yes, I got bored with music last week and haven't listened to any for several days. This happens from time to time. I'll start listening again tomorrow and everything will be OK.

Yes, I am actually very bored with it right now. It happens periodically for me, probably about once or twice a year.
You also have to keep in mind that the longer you listen to music (the older you get), the less and less "fresh" it music sounds, because you've heard the majority of the patterns/styles already.
Your hearing is also getting worse ;)

Yeah this happens to me.
Here is the solution as i have found it.
When it occured to me originally, i just got into IDM through this site. Members were quick with suggestions and i was quick to look into them. I listened to far too much music.
I started to grow weary of listening to all of it. I took a break. No music at the house and perhaps only sometimes in cars. If you take a couple of weeks to not listen to anything it will refresh you.
When coming back to music, start off prodominately with a different genre. Perhaps metal or classic rock.
i've noticed that this helps

Nice to know I am not alone.
I think making music at loud volumes and attending raves nonstop may have also fucked up my hearing, which has something to do with it.

But it's mostly a physcological thing...you're right about the "freshness" of music dissappearing (which is why I don't play videogames anymore.)

Never, ever. I'm always overwhelmed by everything there is to listen to, I can't fathom ever being bored. Too many genres, too much music. Every trip to allmusic or rateyourmusic or something always results in happiness. I suppose there's times I go through little dry spells where I'm not really making any progress or being gobsmacked, but that's usually because of gaming.
I know of a few music lovers who have lost their musical passion and knowledge over time (my mom included), and it really scares me to think about turning out like that. But I'm confident that I won't.

If you keep listening to more styles you won't get bored at all, and keeping in mind the amount of good music there is, you won't run out anytime soon either.

I think it also has to do with building up tension, if you only listen to extremes or musical highlights it generally numbs you after a while...
