[poll] rdj vs icbyd

surprised at the preference of so many people for rdj album
over icbyd... in my opinion icbyd is far superior - the only
trax from rdj album i listen to are 4, girl-boy song,
beatles, to cure a weakling child ... whereas icbyd is
almost 100% perfect, a song for every mood in my opinion...
what am i missing here?

Yes. Icbyd is probably the most consistently good album I
have ever heard. Though not quite the best.

i got bored of RDJalbum in a few weeks, haven't listened to
it in something like a year... i'm not in Aphex Twin a lot
anymore now but my latest listen of ICBYD was still very
enjoyable.

ICBYD isn't perfect though, i could do without "Come on you
slags!".

offline redrum from the allman brothers band (Ireland) on 2004-11-06 15:18 [#01386029]

yeah that one bursts in from nowhere and it's a bit
headwrecking innit. that's the one song i was thinking of
when i wrote "almost 100% perfect"

icct hedral is one of my favourites. as is avid acrid jam
shred. and the rest. bootyful stuff.

imo RDJA is far better but everbody has his own
preferences...

"come on you slags" is my favourite song on icbyd =D

There's a fuckload of "drill fanz0rz" on xlt, so it's not
really that surprising that rdj album is in the lead, not
that it matters or anything. I voted for rdj, though. I just
like it more.

offline Dannn_ from United Kingdom on 2004-11-06 15:54 [#01386064]
Points: 7877 Status: Lurker

I don't really like Icct Hedral or Ventolin, and some of the
tracks are a bit nothingy like Mookid. It's not a bad album
and Alberto Balsalm and Next Heap With are some of his best
tracks, but RDJ Album is much more consistent. I hardly ever
listen to ICBYD the whole way through.

offline Combo from Sex on 2004-11-06 15:57 [#01386066]
Points: 7542 Status: Lurker

i prefer RJDA album by far

BUT ICBYD has a mood, a special dark and strange mood than
you can't find nowhere else... this album proves that RDJ is
a genius, while RDJA proves he is a great musician

im surprised over how much it was voted, better as i think
it is very close regardless.

most of the songs on ICBYD kind of drag on a bit, imo...

icbyd is way better than rdj album

Agreed. There's not a whole lot of progression in most of
the ICBYD tracks. Mind you, some of them were made in the
1990-ish era, so i guess i can forgive and forget.

Mind you, i still like rdj album a lotta lotta more.

... but why? which tracks do you like especially? i can't
*STAND* to listen to ANY of the tracks except for those ones
i mentioned in the first post...

and i think mookid is incredibly cute and perfect. can't
fail that track..

see from my point of view, i am 180 degree different than
your first post

every track on the rdj album is ace, wehre as icbyd, i enjoy
most of them all the time, but there are some that are
boring

p.s. VENTOLIN KICKS ARSE

RDJ album. is like a beatles album in the sense that no
drill artist has done something different from this. (xcept
rdj and friends)

recycle - i hate ventolin :) i can bear come on you slags
but not the noisy mess that is ventolin..

i like the first part of handthrow (until it goes all
hardcore on my speakers) and abomination street is
interesting but i usually turn it off after 20 seconds.

nice recordbag, although you're missing like a million good
squarepusher releases.

I prefer ICBYD as an eclectic Aphexy album, coming after SAW
II it was more like SAW 85-92 pt II rather than, umm,
anything else. Though I really don't appreciate Ventolin.
RDJ album is just too short and I never really "felt" it in
the same way as ICBYD.

I don't think I have added anything valuable to this thread
at all.

No, i'm not, i started off acknowledging that, and wondering
what everyone else sees in the rdj album that I don't.

at least I don't create fucking pointless and brainless
threads.

Yeah only started to enjoy RDJ Album recently, I absolutely
adore it now but despite an uncertain start I Care Because
You Do I regard it higher. More consistant, Alberto Balsalm,
dancier, Alberto Balsalm, longer, Alberto Balsalm.......

The only real downside is Ventolin. Perhaps if it was
faster, it would be more enjoyable.
