So I bought the Terratec DMX 6 Fire soundcard and the
fucker won't work. No sound. I installed it in various ways
and tried everything under the sun. Terratec customer
support sucks balls hard and I'm still awaiting an e-mail
back from them. Their customer support is only open in
office hours which means it's impossible to be sat at my
computer at the same time as ringing them. Their only
suggestion was to try it on anotehr computer. Thanks!
So after the umpteenth reinstall uninstall fuck about I get
a message pop up that my hardware has significantly changed
since I activated windows. For fucks sake. That pissed me
off further just seeing htat. Then when trying to activate
it it tell sme I can't activate it again with that product
code. FUCKING COMPUTERS!

I ring microsoft and spend the few minutes it takes putting
the installation ID into the computer and it also tells me I
can't re do it. I get put through to a Customer Service
person (This is at midnight :D) and I tell them the first 6
numbers of the code and she's got a number for me.

I learnt two things here.

1. Microsoft Customer service is actually good.

2. Terratec suck.

well, the bottomline is you need to get to speak to a live
human being as fast as you can.

that really helps a LOT.

(on a sidenote, I finally got to buy HL2 Silver today! I'm
giddy as a kid! and CS: Source seems to run on my shitty
videocard, so it looks like I can actually play HL2!)

I did speak to a human at terratec. Well they were sort of
human.

CS:Source = FUN!

then at least you get someone to vent your anger at.

Symantec is a prime example of shitty customer service.
first they want you to work your way through a huge database
that kind of works like a QTHGAAA (Questions That Hardly Get
Asked At All).

when you finally find out that your problem is never EXACTLY
matched in that database, only bits of it, you get the
chance to send an e-mail. but this really takes a FUCKING
LONG time to find. then you get an e-mail back from some guy
who apparently has no name who directs you to one of the
articles in the database, asking you whether you have tried
re-installing your Symantec product. well, sir, WHAT THE
FUCK DO YOU THINK!?

if you want personalised help, you have to pay something
like $20. FUCK THAT. you make a product, it throws some
weird error at me, you help me fix it.

as you can see, lots of frustration there..

that kind of stuff pisses me off to no end.

they send you into this ENDLESS website, you just want to
ask someone directly "hey, this is my problem, do you have
an idea what we could do".

but NO. noone takes responsibility, everyone is faceless.
