E-man: Yes yes, I think you hit it right on... Aphex Twin tries, and has tried so many different styles never really staying with one and perfecting it... whereas Autechre has gotten closer and closer to perfecting their sound (if you can say they ever will)... so in that sense, it clearly shows the difference... So I guess if you like Autechres music, then you probably find their music more exciting because they're getting better and better at it, and are constantly improving it... whereas Aphex Twin does so many styles, that there is bound to be something you like or dislike... again, I hope this made sense...

i think they (ae) used a lot of oscilators to trigger stuff on confield, especially VI Scose Poise (the first track).
i don't see the point of this discussion since ppl equally seem to either like or blast each album...
if you don't like it don't listen to it. nobodies forcing you at gun point to listen to it.
also something to consider is that aphex is more a "song" artist and autechre is more of an "album" artist...

Discussion rarely ends in one side winning I think... but yet people still discuss... I could discuss music all day, I love it...

Funkmaster : tanx, you axplained it very well :-). And I think too that afx is more a tune guy... many of his albums are just compilation of tracks in fact, even ICBYD

This brings me to the classic internet catchphrase...
Arguing on the internet is like competing in the special Olympics... even if you win, you're still retarded.

Well, it's probably impossible to expect conversation to here to be "pure" discusion, without heated argument, but don't think that we have to approach the discussions with an intent to win. An intent to understand eachother would be ideal, but that's just a utopian dream.
