anyone using this machines ? digital ones are pretty nice
and sound they record is quite clean. im thinking of getting
one for myself, but i dont know if its worthy...

dictaphones r generally crap, they're only meant for
personal notes......and record qaulity is pretty awful. If
thats all u want it for that fine, otherwise buy something
with a proper microphone (and willy warmer if you want to
use it outside)....then record to DAT, minidisc or something
digital. Otherwise stay clear

i have an old cassette recorder dictaphone - i love it
because the samples sound very dirty. i like the hiss and
other mistakes on them.

but i have borrowed once a digital one from my friend - and
it really rocked - of course with another external
microphone

well basicly i wanted to record human samples, shapes of
conversations, broken words, city sounds, more distorted and
dirty = better. and they are quite cheap when compared to a
better gear with external microphone, plus they are smaller,
i could take it anywhere. more friendly in use, i guess.
thats the point.

just be warned, lots of wind and dictaphones = unclean
upable, unless ure a very experienced sound engineer
