I don't wanna Rock, DJ

A friend of me are gonna DJ before and after a concert with
an experimental rock band (Cloroform), and have asked me for
some electronic music that goes well with what he calls
"strange rock". I have some suggestions, but want some ideas
from you. I know he like Chris Clark, and the music should
be "powerful" but not very danceable electronica.

Some suggestions:
-Hypo: rfm (O.Lamm remix)
-Laurent Brondel: siliconized
-Frank and Bill: Early Morning Mambo
-Sote: Electric Deaf
-Markant: Freie Radikale
-Markant: Grashopper
-Fennesz: fa

maybe some samples of cloroform would be good to decide what
goes with them?

Cloroform?

btw: why, if he's a dj, does he NOT want danceable music?
that's what he's supposed to do; make people dance before
and after the show...

I know what Cloroform sounds like, and so does he. No need
for samples. It's not trancekids that will show up to this
concert, so it's all about playing music that keeps people
interested

samples: I was thinking for the other people, who you were
asking, who quite possibly have NOT heard cloroform.

yeah, but even to keep people interested, you could also put
something danceable in it?

if it's a rock-concert I'd suggest putting in some of RJD2s
"Since we last met" album, but that's just me I guess...

Aaah. Of course. I guess you could dance to the one already
on my playlist, if you really wanted.

although that post confused me a bit; which one is that?

I said "Aaah Of course" to the samples. It's too early for
my head.
And I don't wanted people to put up a lot of old Afx-acid,
that's why I'm asking for NO-DANCING TEKKKNO ONLY!

Poor response BTW. Maybe people are too busy talking
about...whatever

yeah.. but maybe there is someone just looking through the
samples, getting a list of songs ready..? hehe... or.. maybe
they're discussing guano!

I, for one, can't really recommend stuff that goes WITH the
music, but I CAN recommend stuff I'd like to hear before a
concert to get me pumped (dj's ARE supposed to get the pulse
going before the concert..)

elektrofant - flipstick
rjd2 - ghostwriter
(there should be some aphex recommended.. just because this
is xlt!) Aphex - come to daddy
dj shadow - organ donor

well.. otherwise I prefer hip-hop when I'm getting "warmed
up" for a concert! hahaha!

Galerie Stratique if he wants to set a cool unsettling mood,
maybe. I'd like to learn the arpgeggios on ''Rylka'' on
guitar, so maybe they'd go down well with some ''strange''
rock and/or roll.

Hmmmm, Cloroform is kind of funky, in a stoned out kind of
way..... How about Funkadelic - Free your mind and your ass
will follow, Squarepusher - Red hot car, Aphex -
Windowlicker, Miles Davis - Anything from "On the corner",
Stereolab - Simple headphone mind, Annie - Chewing gum (he
he)..... I would play ALL of "on the corner"!

Yeah!

Anything like that Kraftwerk "incident" you didn't want to
tell us about back way?

I like KK albums. Fun stuff!

Hahah, yeah, sorry. By the time the album finishes, Kerry
will be president. I do have a decent connection, and I'm
only allowing 12 uploads, but some people can't get more
than 2 kb/s off me.

It sucks. Try isandro, he has that album. Though you might
be queued.
