One of my friends texted me in work today with the news... i
had to fucking well sit down. The guy was a national
institution, this is really sad.

I didn't find out till I was walking to the Tube. Then my
boss goes: DJ who? He'd never heard of him. I wanted to
throw him under the train at Stepney Green. I knew that
would make me late though.

sad news.
He had such an open mind, and no ego, was in it for all the
right reasons. end of an era.

Captain Beefheart.

And that's a pretty rare fucking occasion.

I've been out getting very drunk tonight with non-interweb
friends... i completely agree with missus kate/telica, it's
like a well-loved family member has died today.

Raise thy interweb glasses tonight.

To John Peel.

Peel!

I'll allways remember when he was presenting on Top of the
Pops and he said.."Now, just when you thought rock music was
becoming boring and predictable, here's Bon Jovi!"

God! I'm really going to miss his shows......

My local greb, grunger, goth night had a banner respecting

I was going to go "haha that is funny", but then i
realised... that won't fucking happen again on a Televisual
Entertainment Channel for a long long time. EVER again,
really.

I won't forget the contribution he made... the amount of
music i learned about from his show is bloody terrifying. He
was the last bastion of eclectic music on "mainstream
radio", really.

Here is where my interweb eulogy ends, but i might add that
i, and many other music-loving peoplez will miss john peel.
A lot. I raise my glass once again.

Imagine at 65 listening to the kind of shit he was still
listening to and pimping. Uncanny. A good man with a dream
job. But he died like the honorary rock star that he was,
better to burn out than to fade away.

Where else on the radio could you hear a Punk track followed
by ambient next to a bluegrass 78. A funny and alround top
bloke. I will miss his shows a lot :(

Best quote I heard this morning is "If God is a DJ, John
Peel just took over."
