Dont Post Your Music Here

I am of the opinion that posting your music on the internet
is a bad idea.

Why?

It causes you to become dependant on feedback of internet
people. And people on the internet are uninhibited and
generally dont give a fuck. Why get a reaction in the form
of a text blurb when you can show people in real life?

I dont post my music here anymore because it sucked the
creativity out of me when I did it.

Conclusion: Alot of people here are very talented in making
music. Dont sell yourself short by posting it for us to
hear. Keep it to yourself, keep refining. Then press some
cdrs and pass it around your local area. Get the human
connection in there a bit. We're not worthy.

yes, probably. but i'm bored and there's only one proper
cure for boredom: instantaneous ego stroking.

That was my reasoning in the past as well.

I agree, thats why i dont post anything unless its 'done'
and I just want to share it with everyone. I'm not really
looking for feedback other than "nice job I like what you
did here" or "it sucked and I deleted it".

I agree actually. If you take onboard everyones opinion
it'll end up like an IDM pop idol where it appeals to nobody
as it's a bit of this, a bit of that, with no balls.

All of you shut up.

There is nothing wrong with posting shit here provided you

a) Understand that it won't appeal to everyone
b) You don't listen to anyones opinion to an extent where it
makes you change the track from the way you want it.
c) Accept consstructive criticism in a good manner.

That's basically why I don't bother with posting shit here
anymore.

take it personally.

But criticism on the internet is different. You dont have
all the feedback and social "responsibility" you do in real
life, and the criticism isnt as useful as a result.

Online, you can just pop off a
"Nice tune. More melody should be there though"
"Add more reverb"

Its all half-assed, impersonal feedback.

I only do it to stroke my weak, yet huge, ego

What the fuck are you on about? You want social
responsibility from someone when they listen to your music?
haha, wow...you are a little too serious for my liking. I
just post up random clips of shit I enjoy making...I don't
expect anything from anyone.

I should have said social response, instead of
responsibility. You can get alot more information from an
actual human in front of you. You get reaction, physical,
etc.

The best way to get feedback is to play live.

offline ecnadniarb on 2004-10-25 20:29 [#01371917]

Obviously I look in the thread again if I remember I started
it, but I never get put off by what I read, I just sit
stroking my beard thinking "they aren't intelligent enough
to 'get it'" and continue with my day to day business.

*note: I have no beard and nor do I think.

I'm happy that you got lighthearted there.
Sometimes, man, I get really nervous when you show up in my
threads. You're so fucking.... volatile.

Why is playing live the best way to get feedback about a
track? What if your music isn't designed for live
performance...you are typing some straight up bullshit
trying to be clever tonight, good sir.

It's because I lack "social responsibility"

See, that's what I mean.

I make only the finest in music. If I can't get every single
person who has ever visited this board to recognize that, I
won't bother with it. If people don't like my music, it's
because they're stupid.

Beard.

Whoop. You're back again. And this time intimidating as
usual.

I probably am writing bullshit. I want some conversation is
all.

The best way to get feedback is to not play dead.

Yes! you should have said 'social response' and you'ld have
got yourself out of all this silly bother.

Do you have an actual human in front of you to talk to about
this or do you want to get some more feedback virtually?
